Kershaw Chive for Keychain EDC?

Actually tried it with a Scallion. Too big.

Switched out to a Rainbow Chive. Thought it would be a "cool little keychain accessory". Still too big.

Went down to a Leatherman Squirt, and it was still a bit too big... these being too big for ME personally, mind you.

Might try one of those Swiss-Tech UtiliKey things soon.

Disclaimer: When I bought the Scallion, it was on a Snap-on tool truck. After trying out 1/2 inch drive sockets with cheater bars, that Scallion seemed tiny, and I mean tiny. After running around with it on the keys for just a few hours, I figured the chive would be a better fit... no pocket clip, and compared to the size of the Scallion, the Chive was just TINY! Couple days into it, I could tell that this wasn't going to work, so switched out to the LM Squirt, which seemed... in relation to the Chive.... TINY ! (See where I'm going with this, eh?)

Finally figured that the key-ring isn't a place to pack a knife. But that Swiss-Tech thing still might be useful next to the house key.

I went through a few small knives before settling on a Leathetman Sauirt PS4. It carry it attached to an Olight i3s and couldn't be happier.

The Chive is a bit larger than I'd want on my keys. Alox SAK Rambler is my keychain knife nowadays. The AG Russell Ultimate Pen Knife is another good one (titanium handles, VG-10 blade).

I was gifted a ladybug. I like it and wat have you, but I want something stamped made in usa. I'm ocd like that 😞

Be careful with those Chives...Many years ago, I had one open up in my pocket and poke me in my side.

Personally, I'd get one of those small Spyderco's if I wanted a keychain sized knife.

Here are some pics of a Chive next to some of the other keychain knives mentioned here.

If you want something made in USA, maybe the MiniBuck?

Indeed. AO knives are a no go for keys. You'd end up a bloody mess if that thing opened unexpectedly

Tried it out, didn't care for it. My sister works in an office, nice little Easter present for her! Thanks ladies and gentleman!

In defense of the Chive, it does have that little pinky safety switch on the lock side. It has a screw in it, so you can adjust it to the tension you like. There's no need for it to pop open in your pocket.

You just have to make sure you remember to engage the safety, which may not always happen. The Chive still would still not be my pick for a loose knife in the pocket.

I think the chive is adorable, but never considered it for a keychain. I would be worried about the jingling moving the safety off popping open. I do have a number of the Squirt Ps4's and think they're great, but definitely bulkier than the Chive. Recently also been carrying a Boker Plus Tucan, and had it come in handy a few times already.
