o

here is the deal, got my wife packing a pink bm grip.

good knife, she saw my chive in rainbow this morning and wants to edc it.

i know it has a lock, but the assisted has me worried about cutting her in the pocket, she is forgetful.

should i take the spring out?

is it hard to take the spring out?

thx

i have given my wife a few assisted knives and they have never opened on her.... and she is completely careless. Bag the size of most military bags.

I carry an FL Scallion my purse specifically because (like the chive) it has a tip lock on it, so it won't pop open when I reach in to grab something. And coincedentally, I have a rainbow chive in my pocket right now.

The only thing I'd say about the rainbow one in particular, is that it can be a little slippery in your hand because of the polish. If you're worried about that, the pink might be better because the aluminum handle gives a little more texture.

So long as she remembers to secure the tip lock, I'd say she'd be fine.

Yes, I was going to mention the lock. It's also easy to remove the spring. Be sure the knife is open before you take it apart.

 Very cool!

I have been carrying the leek ever since it came out. I have never put the lock on. to this day I have never had it open by mistake.

Good advice here:thumbup:

I carried a Chive when they first came onscene for a few years and it never opened in my pocket. Used to use the lock then got lazy and stopped securing it.

The one and only time I've ever had my chive deploy unintentionally was a bit of carelessness on my own part - I left in in my pocket when I was doing laundry. It opened in the dryer. Fortunately both my jeans and my fingers survived, but it could have been bad on both parts.

Not intended for washing machines. ;)

Never thought i’d see someone from kershaw recommend using a BM before one of their own ;)

Did I say that? I definitely recommend the Chive because of the tip lock, if she's worried about it opening in her pocket. It's a good little knife. I love mine.

Oh definitely. The tip lock is genius. Saved me from a few bad accidents with the leek i had a while back.

I never liked the chive because I found it difficult to get a decent grip on. It's just too small. The Scallion is one step up in size and it's one of my all time favorite small EDC knives. Your wife probably has smaller hands than I do so maybe it's fine for her. Still I think having a proper grip and control over the knife is the most important aspect when it comes to safety.
