I have noticed many questions concerning kershaw knives, esp. Offset and the Bump in relation to leeks. . . here is my collection all together if it helps. The Offset and Bump Rock, I have a slight Review of the Offset in Kershaw Offset Thread

Awesome collection....a few suggestions:

A Blue/Green Bump (my fav Kershaw right now), a Storm variation (just a great user and deal), an ET--it's just so unique, and finally, the mini mojo, just because it's one of my favorite looking and feeling small folders out there, but I do think it's a bit overpriced. But it's nice to have a mini-spec bump on you.

I just have the mojo and blue bump...I think I'll add an ET soon. I keep meaning to buy a new Benchmade, but everytime I get ready to buy that switchback or 960, a Kershaw catches my eye.

To answer some of the questions.

1) It's The Spec Bump s30v, I got it from an online site called www.savsonswordsandknives.com

2)The Offset locks up well Id say just as well as the bump, the locks are like mini octagons that catch on a flatside which locks it in place, I have tried to apply simulated pressure on it and it did not slip.

3) I do enjoy many kershaws, but like most of us I am on a budget (splurged on the offset already). One Bump is fine for know, but if I could get one I would love a ploished blade with black handle.

Check out this site for some awesome Ken Onion custom kershaws. www.kenonionknives.com

Below is a review (as best as I could give) I gave on another thread on the OFFSET.

Well I am new to this site and can't give a comprehensive review, but I will tell you what I think of this knife and what I do know.

First off let me say that although many think the splatter paint on the handle is in poor taste, (an opinion I once had) I can say that it must be seen in person to appreciate it's beauty. It is much darker in color and the metallic color and surface (3d machined) really stands out. Another plus in this design, is the fact that it really personalizes the knife for it adds a "fingerprint" quality to it as for no two offsets are the same! As for the speed safe, this knifes big blade is equipped with double pumpers (the mechanisms that thrusts the blade out) which allow this blade to be deployed as fast as their other smaller knives. Which I should also mention, this knife is a beast in size compared to most folders. It easily out weighs the bump and is quite a bit larger and the blade is much wider. If I learn how I will post pics here later.

The grip is fantastic and the 3D machined feels slick, comfy and secure all at the same time. Its blade is very appealing to me. I do own the bump and in a certain way they are similar in the fact that they both have a very efficient curve in the blade that allows for much easier cutting. While the bump is, well a smooth bump, the offset has an angled point to it. This I believe makes it to be much more effective on cutting than the bump. This may sound foolish, but I was holding the knife tonight while watching T.V. with my girlfriend, she began to get curious about the knife and wanted to hold it. I gave it to her explaining how it works, after I believed that she was going to hurt herself I gently took the knife out of her hands, in some small way the point brushed past her skin with out me knowing it. She began her little crying about how I cut her (playfully and half joking). I asked where and how because I could not see any marks on her. Not believing in her I told her that she was just crying for nothing and that she was not cut, yet she persisted on saying that she was cut. Looking at her in disbelief I ran the blade down my arm a few times saying, "Look I am Appling a lot more pressure here than could have been place on your hand and no cuts!"

Guess what?! Her hand finally started showing a sign of the small insignificant cut in the back of her hand and then I said "oops" , I quickly looked at my arm and much quicker than hers, I began to see blood. The damn knife cut me so cleanly I didn't even feel it! I swear I 've had paper cuts that hurt more.

(Maybe I should put this story in the Stupidest Thing You've Done with Your Knife thread! )

Needless to say I tried the same thing with the bump and it did not cut me. Not exactly a scientific test as for the offset could be shipped sharper. I will say that this is my favorite knife that I own. It feels great in the hand in any position you hold it in, and is a very original knife in many ways. I haven't been as amazed by any other knife for as long as I have been with this knife. The moment you open the box of your very own you will understand what I am saying. My only gripe is that this knife doesn’t have a safety lock like the bump or leeks, so belt carrying is kind of a risky thing. I would love to see this knife be produce in many different colors and variations (how about a red splattered design?)

My knife collection is mostly Ken Onion's Kershaw’s and I love many of his designs. So you understand how I place this knife in regard to others I will give you a run down of my Collection.

Kershaw KEN Onions: Offset, Bump, Steel Leek, Rainbow Leek, Steven Segal, WhirlWind, Charcoal Metallic Centofante,

Others:Tom Brown Tracker, Lord of The Rings:Srtiders Elvish Hunting Kinfe

I purchased my offset on ebay For about 300$, I know it's pricy, but it is worth my pennny, it is 0005 of 1000 limited edition, I yet to know what makes my limited from the rest but that's what is says, and if any one knows that answer it would be appreciated.

Offset 2005 Blade mag's knife of the year, I think you'll be happy, just don't run it along any part of your skin .. to prove a point or otherwise.

Stephan, you're a man after my own heart.
I've got a dozen Kershaw Onions, not to be mixed up with other Kershaws. They're the core if not quite the biggest part of my collection in absolute terms. The Outcast adds a nice FB and a tough but manageable chopper.
Inevitably, now I'm going completely knuts and looking to go custom :-)

Love to hear about those gangs of Kershaw's you all have.

We have some real sweet 2nd half of the year offerings that we will be showing off at Blade in June. I'm hoping you will all be impressed.

My wifey just bought me my 1st Kershaw> (Offset) for my b-day. I am in love with it (her, too)! Gotta get the Bump next....

Yeah Tristram, I know what you mean. If you haven't already bought a Bump, Leek, or OFFSET . . you don't know what your missing. Picking between them as to which are my favorite, are like picking which of your children you like best, they're all different and special in their own way. I carry the Leek around as my daily knife, it's slim profile fits just about any pocket and is a great all purpose "poking/cutting" tool. If you haven't seen the custom Ken Onions, they are . . . .ahhh no words . . . just go here:)---> www.kenonionknives.com

Hey 44cv44 , about your OFFSET, could you describe it to me, I am curious as to the differnence between the limited editions and yours, assuming your's isn't the limited edition. Mine (again) is numbered 0005 of 1000 and besides that, it would be hard for me to point out any other differences between the limited and regular. I would hope it would have more than just a numbered blade, but am happy with it either way. Maybe Thomas W can answer?

P.S. I have a thread called Knife Naming in the blade disscussion forum, in which I have this pic and another with other knives . .I named thease knives for kicks . .hope you enjoy!

I would post some pics, but we got some new devices and ware added to the puter and it will take me forever. I am not sure about the L.E. but mine says its 249/1000....

Yeah, than you have a limited too, at least when I bought mine, I was told, and read that it was a limited edition 1 of 1000 made, so your in that number as well, h m m m ... . wonder what will hapen they are done with 1000, I hear about 4 are made per month because of the production process.

I'm not sure....I got mine pretty late in the game and was surprised to see that I had #249......hmmmmm

Well just keep in mind that because of the limited ammount produced, they are shipped out scattered, so you not as late as you might think, I was looking for them everywhere ever since they were introduced and barely got mine in January . . and that was on EBAY!

All I know is that I am really liking it. My only complaint about the knife is the handle~ art (splatter). Ergonomically, it fits my hand as if it were customized. I like the handle or the "look" of the spec bump more.

Yeah, I have grown to love the look an the originality of it, it dose make each one a little different at least. What it really need is a lock so those double pumpers don't take off on you while it's hooked to your belt (ouch!). . . . .well who am I kidding, I won't clip this to my belt . .or use it for that matter . . maybe I should buy another for use . .is that crazy or what . .one for show, one for go!

The Offset is a challenging knife to produce, and the MIM/HIP technology has not been an easy road to pave.

To date there has been around 300 Offsets produced, and we hope to have the full run of the 1000 knives done by the end of summer.

The molds for these blades have a limited number of "shots" that can be made, so we will re-evaluate where this model will go, once the 1000 knives have been produced. It is possible if the mold is still stable, a 2nd generation of Offsets would start rolling out. Hope this helps.
