Kershaw Counterfeit???

I recently purchased a few Kershaws on ebay from the same seller. One is a Leek, and the other a Zing. So I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with counterfeit Kershaws? Both knives came packaged in the standard Kershaw silver box with the American flag.

Below are the items of concern on the Leek.

1. No date code stamped on the blade.
2. The inscription on the handle reads "Kershaw SPEEDSAFE USA" not "Kershaw Ken Onion USA"
3. The blade material is 14C28N and not 13C26
4. The Kershaw stamp on the clip is not the same depth across the word. The letters are fainter in the middle.

As for the Zing, the grooves on the blade are not uniform and look cheaply machined.

What are your thoughts? Should I be concerned? These knives are going to be Christmas presents for my sons.

Thanks,

Jeff

14C28N is the new steel they use. It is supposed to be better. They no longer date the blades as of late 2009.

Sounds like your Leek is A-Okay

Pics would help for the Zing.

The Gov. is right. Also of note is that they changed the logos a while back. I believe that change was effective around the time the Packrats first came out, so..... maybe 6-8 months ago. Don't quote me on that last bit though. :o

My leek has all these features, too. Sounds legit! They stopped date stamping the blades, and speedsafe is supposed to be there.

The kershaw logo depth thing... I thought that was weird on mine, too. Do they do that on purpose, or is it just a bad batch of clips?

I missed the part about the Zing...... Do you mean that the grooved are not evenly spaced or that there appears to be 3 (or so) facets inside the grooves. If it it is the facets inside the grooves, then, it is correct. That's how RJ makes them. If it is a spacing issue....semd it in and they will fix it.

Yup nothing to worry about. If the Zing machining really annoys you, you may want to send it back but everything is how it should be.

hi everyone i need some kershaw help to please i have a leek just as described above but mine has no stamping of what kind of metal it is?on the blade it just says 1660 kia patented and made in usa no blade steel?

i also have an 07 chive with no blade steel markings?

I'm pretty sure that most Kershaws don't have the blade steel marked on them. There are, of course, certain exceptions.

The newer Kershaw's have the blade steel on the blades.

How was the edge out of the box? Most knockoffs have an edge barely suitable for cutting butter. All Kershaws I've examined new could shave arm hair readily.

EDIT: Just realized this is an eight month old thread. My bad. :(

I got a made in china Leek knock off, beware of fuzzy pictures and vague descriptions. It's not even a good letter opener.
