Figured I would post my first actual thread on a specific blade, I apologize in advance if this one has been covered already. Just wanted to give some info on the Kershaw Crown, and the uses I have put it through at this current time. To start off for a knife you can currently get on sale at Wal-Mart for a cheap price you just cant pass it up considering the MSRP is more if you buy direct. I work in Seed Corn Production building pallet loads, and doing maintenance work. I cut alot of shrink wrap on pallets when building loads, and when doing maintenance work of course. Last night I decided to run with it at work completely, and leave the BG Folder from Gerber in its sheath on my side. I was def impressed with its sturdability, and cutting ability cut shrink wrap all night and never dulled out, which I cant say about my BG Folder which I do love. I paid more for the BG Folder, which never held the edge after a night of work like the Kershaw Crown did last night. All in all its def worth what you pay for it, I still love my Gerber Knives of course, but I am very happy with my Kershaw Crown as my new EDC.

I liked mine for the week it lasted. If you can make it past QC it seems people enjoy it though. Hard to complain on a $10 walmart special

We might like to know what issues occurred. I'm curious.

I suffered many of the same issues X4CTO did in his youtube "Kershaw Crown - Fit for a King?" video on youtube. His follow up video said his second one was great however, so I'm not overly worried. I mean how great can QC been on $10 walmart knives...Basically a groove started to wear into the blade stock messing with lockup. Shortly after this a horrible grinding sound started to happen at the pivot (open and close). When i took it apart to clean it and lube the pivot area. I found more worn grooves in the blade itself, and putting it back together was of minimal success. The grinding stopped, but the lockup is still rather awkward and there's a point during folding thats really hard to get over. Almost like a hill, or something it hitting one of those aforementioned grooves.

That sucks man I have had mine for about a week now, so I suppose I'll see what happens. So far its held up to what I need it for at work, I hope it continues that way :D

$10, you get what you pay for.....I wouldn't use it for hard use, but I'm sure it will last a long time if you only use it for slicing cheese and making peanut butter & jelly sandwiches.

I've carried and used mine since I received it on Christmas Day. I have had no issues with it and have used it almost daily for light-medium work (cutting packing materials, opening boxes, cutting rope, trimming plastic, fiberboard and drywall, even slicing a steak). It's kept it's edge and nothing has loosened up on it yet. When these things happen I will sharpen it and tighten it up and continue to use it.

I don't see a lot of love on this forum for knives that don't use some suder-duper space age steel or that don't cost over $200. Lighten up already.

I rarely get what I pay for with Kershaw, meaning I tend to get a lot more. Kershaw are the highest value knives for their price... period.

Buy an OSO Sweet or a Skyline, they're perfect knives for... everything and they're cheap. The Skyline even uses Sandvik steel.

What is it with you and slicing cheese? Is that your way of separating the true, hardcore tactical knives for high speed operators such as yourself from everything else? Just because it's not "hard use," whatever you define that to be, doesn't mean it's not a practical knife.

OP, glad to hear you like the knife, and welcome to the forums. You'll probably find soon that modern Gerber knives are not as well-liked here, and there are only a few Walmart knives that enthusiasts really like. Like you, my first knife was a Gerber, which I later stopped using after being exposed to alternative options. Do a little poking around the forums to see what kind of knives people like; I suspect it will be well worth your while as it was for me.
