so knifecenter has the kershaw crown on sale for $14 and decided to pick it up blindly. i have never had a kershaw before but this is a handsome folder im probably gonna carry a few weeks and give to my father for christmas if i think he will like to carry it. any comments on the knife or the brand? anything to jump on or avoid like the plague?

P.S. sorry for horrible punctuation im at work trying to type quietly so my boss thinks im working

Kershaw is a great brand in itself. They make some of the best budget blades around, not to mention their ZT line which has excellent production and limited edition knives. The Crown, from what I've heard, is a good knife for the money. It has clean lines and nice micarta scales and polished bolsters. I'd say you made a good decision picking one up.

Its a good knife, but there are some flaws in the finish in some areas because it is so cheap. It is built pretty well tho and I'm glad I got mine

I have 2 of them(one the now discontinued version with blue micarta scales), they're nice budget blades. The steel is a good budget steel, and the polished micarta and bolsters gives it a very classy look.

It's a good cheap blade. I bought 20 of them for 10$ a piece. A few years ago at christmas. Can you guess what everybody got as gifts that year? Lol

Nothing wrong at all with the Crown. I have several that I got on a closeout sale at Walmart and have given several as gifts.

I got a Crown for my dad last Christmas. He's really not a knife guy so I wanted something modern but gentlemanly - but I also didn't want to spend much on it because I figured he wouldn't really carry it. Nine months later he's still carrying it every day, and I'm gonna get him a nice upgrade this year. Might give him a hand-me-down Benchmade Rift or Mcusta if I'm feeling generous.

The Crown was probably the best $10 I've spent on the bay in a loooooong time. Was pleasantly surprised.

Dude the Crown is awesome. For the money you can't beat it. It locks up more solidly, has less blade play and is nearly as smooth as the two Benchmade folders I have right now; the 710 and 746. Thin hollow grind in a classic profile. The only hit it has is the steel, but what can you ask of a $15 knife.

I got the Crown recently too. The micarta is classy and well done. It is amazing that this knife is selling for $10 shipped, it really is a great knife and probably the best value bar none out there at that price.

Gave some for Christmas presents to some co-workers a few years ago. One co-worker replaced the micarta scales with curly koa scales and reluctantly gifted it to his dad. It turned out beautiful and could have been mistaken for a custom if the Kershaw laser etch on the blade wasn't so visible.

Agreed, the Kershaw Crown is a fine knife. Have two of them. Carrying one now. I removed (and later replaced the pocket clip) and carefully rough sanded the micarta to give the knife a better grip. Also have several other model Kershaw knives - like all of them. Got mine from Knifecenter also - great folks to deal with, good prices, great service.

There is not much better you can get for the price.

I bought and gifted several the first year that they were available at wally world. Of the several that I examined, the fit & finish ran from "not great" to near perfect. I think they are a good value at the original $15 price. At $10, it's a great deal, especially if you have limited funds and reasonable expectations. With all of the knives in my collection, mine still get occasional use.

I just got one off of the big river for about $6 shipped?
Very good at the price. Pretty meh compared to $20 kershaws.
