I recently bought a Cryo because,, well, it's not important why I bought it.(Actually,, I bought two.)

The point is this... One of the knives was "snappy" and the other one was kinda sluggish so I wanted to see the inside of the knives and since you can totally take it apart, I did.

What I found was something that I have a question about.

In both knives I found a big glob of what looked like Vaseline where the torsion bar lived. Totally OVER lubed in my opinion.

I cleaned it out of both knives and they both now snap out like fire crackers.

My question is.. does type of knife require that much lube?

It was just a big "glob" sitting there, obviously slowing down the "action".

Thanks in advance. I am still learning. This forum is great!

I think the grease in the torsion bar cutout is as much for lubrication as noise reduction (keeps the torsion bar from rattling around when the blade is open). The grease there shouldn't be viscous enough to affect the torsion bar's ability to open the blade though. Perhaps some other stuff got dislodged when you disassembled it? Or maybe the torsion bar wasn't seated quite right, and you inadvertently fixed it when re-assembling?

Maybe more grease was in contact with torsion bar on the slow knife? Being winter and cold in a lot of places, the grease could also be a bit more viscous than normal further slowing things up?
