Hey there guys, just found 2 unused Cabela's giftcards ($50 in total) and I've decided to get a new knife. I was debating between the Cryo or the Skyline. I know both are excellent knives from what I've heard but I can't decide between one. I love my Blur and it's been my EDC since December but I think it might need a little break. Here's some info on what I typically do
-15 years old
-I obviously don't carry a knife with me to school
-Using my Blur for box cutting, occasionally cutting thin wood, rope cutting
-Explorer for local FD

Hey man, I think the Cryo would be a tougher knife for any jobs the FD will throw at it, the Skyline is much lighter and thinner so it's better for EDC.

Would get both but for some reason the Cryo is $50 and the Skyline is currently on sale for $30. Still not sure which to get even with the price difference.

I haven't had a chance to handle a skyline yet but I found the cryo to be uncomfortable. I love the design but it is too short and feels awkward in hand. I'd go with the skyline or wait for the cryo 2.

With that price difference, get the Skyline. Maybe you can trade the extra in gift cards to someone you know for $20, then order the Cryo for an extra $10 out of pocket online :D

I'd take the Skyline over the Cryo (I have both) every day of the week and twice on Sundays, but I prefer my carry knives to be on the lighter side.

Alright, ordering the Skyline now. Thanks guys! I'll probably get the Cryo later after I have money for a Griptilian.

Personally, I like the Skyline better for EDC. If you're looking for something to take some abuse/punishment though, the Cryo might be better suited. It has a thicker blade (3mm on the Cryo vs. 2mm on the Skyline) and thicker steel frame lock (vs. liner lock on the Skyline).

Good on you being in the F.D. Explorer program! I would say try the skyline first. Being that you already have an assisted aluminum handled blur, the g10 and flipper are on the other end of the spectrum for you. I think you will be happier with it.

I personally would recommend the blur for the dept. though. The skyline isn't built for the hard cutting tasks you would run into. The cryo would work better for that but is still not a great choice due to size. The cryo 2 would be better suited.

Everyone has different preferences and different size hands.

I would go with the Cryo IMO.

I have medium size hands and my Cryo fits flawlessly.

Plus as a 5th pocket EDC it is perfect.

Just my .02

I'd go Skyline. The Cryo is pretty sweet, but Skyline is a much simpler animal. No springs to worry about, light, grippy, flipper, good length blade. Definitely get both, but go with the Skyline first :)
