I dont know much about kershaw , i figured i could get some advice here . . . . . I got my first kershaw (Zing) for christmas , and i love it . Carried everyday since . Recently i noticed a little side to side play in the blade , Went out and bought a torx multi-tool and tried to tighten it up a bit . Unfortunatly that didnt work . the back side of the screw just spins in place . . . . .:grumpy:

is my knife under warrenty? whats the best way to handle this ?

Thanks .

The knife is definitely covered under warranty, but your problem is probably just cause they put loctite in the pivot screw.

Since you have the torx screw you can heat up the pivot a little with a blowdryer to loosen up the loctite so you can tighten the pivot.

Definately covered. Just call them up, or try the at-home remedy that Sinsanity suggested.

You can open your knife, place it on a table, put pressure on blade, and try to turn pivot screw. Putting that bit of side pressure on the blade was enough to keep mine from spinning.

ok i tried sinsanitys rememdy , to no avail . It appears on the zing that the scale is supposed to have the exact shape of the backside of the screw (excuse my noob terminology) which is hexigonal . in photos ive seen ith backside of the screw sits flush in the scale and provents it from turning in place , On mine it doesnt sit flush and the hexigonal hole in the scale is completely rounded ( due to Spining ) . At this point I think its best to contact kershaw , opinions please ?

Thanks again.

Yeah, call Kershaw warranty. Though they'll likely just tell you to print off the warranty form and send it in.

I dont know about your situation but I know kershaw has a good customer service. I requested a new torsion bar yesterday and i got this email today.
Your parts request is being processed and should ship out within the next day or two. Please be looking for it in the mail in about 7 to 10 business days. As always, there is no charge for this service. This should be enough to get your knife back in complete working order. Please remember to add blue loktite to the threads of the handle, pocket clip and pivot screws. Allow the knife to dry for 24 hours before using it again. This will keep the screws from backing out. If you need anything else let us know.
This seems like good service to me.

Gear Junkie -

If the hexagonal head of the pivot is spinning, your knife needs to come in for a repair. Here's a link to the information you ned to send it in to our Warranty department: http://www.kershawknives.com/warranty.php

Make sure you include a note explaining the problem, and make sure you include your return address, phone number, and/or email address (and type it up or print it neatly). You'd be surprised how many people forget to do this.

Sorry for your trouble, and good luck.

Try this too:

Take the clip off
Place a rubber band between the holes
Replace the clip with the rubber band in place and snug them down
Loosen or tighten the pivot as needed.
