Received my 2nd Kersaw knife a month ago for christmas; a Kershaw Blur.

Unfortunately, the locking liner mechanism was not engaging the back of the blade correctly when in the locking position, and I started to 'worry' about the posibility of it closing on my hand/fingers.

I wrote a small email to the Kershaw warranty department to establish whether I could "fix" this problem, and I explained my concerns - Unfortunately, I didn't have a suitable camera around to be able to send them a picture of the problem.

The response was immediate: Send the knife back to us for inspection/replacement. So I did.

Yesterday I received a brand new (replacement) Kershaw Blur from Dawn Riggen (at the Kershaw Knives Warranty Department). Brilliant! I tell you I am soooooo impressed with their attitude and the way that they engaged me as a customer/client. I'll have absolutley no hesitation in buying other Kershaw knives that I like, with back-end service like this.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you guys know about the great service you get from Kershaw. I'm one (knife nut) who's well impressed ... as you can probably tell . :)

Glad to hear about another company with good customer service. Unfortunately, I don't have any Kershaw knives but look forward to purchasing one in the future. I want to see for myself the quality and the sharpness people have been raving about on the boards.
One model I'm drooling over is the Bump but I heard people have a hard time getting ahold of these. Also, it is quite expensive, but I am willing to pay for quality. I wish they gave you an option for a manual Bump, but maybe I'm asking too much :D Maybe when I buy it I'll change my views on the speed-safe. Not saying it's bad just that there is a possibility that you could get in trouble. Anyway, hopefully I'll have a chance to experience Kershaw's knives.

Freaky. I had a knifemare last night where I was getting ready to email Kershaw customer service to find out what could be done about my new Chive. In my dream the tip of the blade was missing. I hadn't been using it. Just opened it to find the tip was broken off. And knowing lots of knife companies don't cover damage to the blade tip I wondered what kind of answer I'd get. Unfortunately the dream ended or I woke up before I got to send the email. :( :)

I would be very surprised if they didn't replace your knife IF you broke the tip. I sent a leek back to them with a broken blade (my foolishness caused this) and they sent me a new one. No questions asked.

i personally beliueve kershaw has tyeh best cs for a production company. Dawn Riggen is my hero.

I had a Whirlwind that I gave to a kid who works for me. His Dad snapped off the tip so I told him to send it in with a note and they would probably regrind it for him. Nope, they replaced it. I was very impressed. Shout out to the fine folks at Kershaw.

I have been impressed with Kershaw across the board and can't wait to see what's next from their collaboration with Ken Onion. I have emailed Al Mar and Spyderco warranty/repair without replies (thought I remain a fan of both companies), but emails to Kershaw have been answered promptly and helpfully. No shipping charges either when they replaced the clip on my Random Task.

I sent in a Blackout that belongs to a friend's son about two weeks ago. He'd been using it for a work knife for the last year, and it was trashed. I hoped they could replace the screw at the rear of the handle, and possibly regrind the tip which was broken off, along with regrind the edge, which had some chips the depth of the edge bevel.
Got a package with a brand new Blackout, and a Kershaw catalog today.
My friend's son will be very happy :)
This was my first taste of Kershaw's customer service.
Excellent.

Well, I hope I never break or injure my Chive, but it's nice to know that if I do Kershaw will be so forgiving and kind. :)

macarthu,

You might want to call these companies. :)

Many knifemakers and companies are still very much adherent to the telephone, and you'll get a much faster response this way. EKI is one great example of this.
