Okay, so for the last couple weeks I have been doing some research but I'm still a newbie when it comes to knives. I work in maintenance and looking for an EDC knife that is durable and solid. It would also be nice to carry around when not at work for protection. This would be my first EDC knife. Which would be better to get? The kershaw cyclone or the zt 0350?

Are there any other places I could find the kershaw cyclone besides eBay? What's a good dependable site to goto to buy knives? What is a fair price I can expect to pay for either of these knives?

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

For a knife that's going to get properly used, i would seriously consider getting a Kershaw or ZT "blem" from Kershaw guy. The 0350 is under $100 .
I have the 350 (the semi serrated version) and I love it, its a VERY solid little bugger, opens quickly with the assist and locks open securely.

Get the zt350. Great knife. Getting a blem is okay as long as you don't need a warranty. As far as I know, bless aren't covered.

Looks like the kershaw guy has the zt 0350 blem for $95. However on eBay it looks like they have brand new zt 0350 for like $115. Are there any other sites anybody could recommend? Seems like the zt 0350 is the way to go.

Amazon is about the same price, $114.44.

Warranty aside, will KAI still sharpen blems like they do with regular knives ?

Ive heard Kershawguy can be competitive with his pricing... never hurts to ask. He ships fast and takes care of his people. As for ebay, Im not much of a fan, all the bad stories I hear are usually from there. Even when buying BNIB knives.

Officially I dont think so. But Ive heard them say, multiple times, if it shows up, they sharpen them.

350 is an awesome knife. You can email Dave for his current price list. He has some of the best prices around and just a real nice guy in general. Also check out Blade HQ as well.

On another note. You will want to refrain from posting prices from the auction site or asking values(against the rules).Just read FAQs and rules. Not trying to be a jerk, just trying to make your stay pleasant and trouble free.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

Learning to sharpen your own knives is essential for this hobby. Start with something cheap like a spyderco sharpmaker and if you want to move up then consider an edge pro or wicked edge

Thanks for the heads up about the pricing. I didn't know.

Now that I've determined what knife to get, are there any recommendations for the type of blade? Serrated or not? Should I get the blade black or no? I really know nothing about the benefits or of there are any at all to choosing one over the other.

Welcome to the forums! Unfortunatley as was previously pointed out, prices are only allowed to be discussed by gold or higher members. On top of that no links are allowed from outside vendors such as ebay or amazon. There is a list of supported paying vendors for the forums. Ill see about getting that link up for you. Anyway, welcome look around and you can use the search function at the top for any specific knives or questions you might have. Most around here are very nice and helpful as you have probably gathered by now! Hope to see you around.

Almost forgot, maybe take a look at a JYD 2.2, it makes a heck of a working knife.

How bout a Kershaw Lahar???

(Bottom one)

And they are in stock a Blade HQ for a great price. Forgot they had them until I saw this pic. I literally just placed an order 5min ago for a 700. Woulda ordered a lahar if I had thought about it.

This thing is so awesome. The VG10 gets wicked sharp, and will hold a nice edge after some use (shaved some pine, for a fire) And it's super easy to sharpen. The opening is so smooth, feels like glass, and the G10 is nice and grippy, but it's pocket friendly.

The top one in the pic looks pretty beat up. You should just sell it to me.:DKidding awesome score on that by the way.
