Kershaw Damascus Blades?

How good are they at holding an edge? Also anyone know how many layers they typically are. I just ordered my first Kershaw Damascus lade and am curious about what I am getting.

My only other Damascus carrying knife so far is a gold class Benchmade though a Boker Damascus is also on the way.

AFAIK, they are all Alabama Damascus. According to their website they use 3 layers of 52100, 4 layers of 5160, 3 layers of 203E, and 3 layers of 15N20. :thumbup:

The black Shallot Damascus arrived today.. Nice looking blade but IMO not as nice as my Benchmade 470-131 but also a lot less expensive knife than the gold class BM. Very fast shipping and delivery from group member Kershawguy.

I've always wondered how they perform at edge holding and toughness as well. I rarely carry my Dama Leek so I can't really say.

My Dam Skyline can get and hold a fantastic edge for quite awhile. Compared to my S30v Skyline, for me it takes a better edge but doesn't hold it for as long. It is thinner behind the blade though. The Damascus Kershaw uses is great for a user blade.
