Hi,
So now I' m planning on buying a Kershaw Skyline, and am trying to decide between the Damascus version and the regualar Sandvik 13C26 with which I' ve been very happy in the past.
So now my question is, how does the Damascus steel Kershaw uses stack up to their 13C26? How is the edge retention and how easy is it to sharpen(All I ever use is a Sharpmaker)?

I picked up a Damascus Shallot 6 or so weeks back and I have been very happy with it. Holds a great edge and touches up well also... If I were getting a Skyline I would go for the Damascus for sure!!!

I ordered a damascus first, but my order was messed up and I was sent the Sandvik. In my frustration, I sent that one out to be made the way i want and bought a damascus to leave original.

Either one is just as good. I wouldn't say the dam steel is better, I personally think you're just paying more for the looks... but i'm no expert, heck i haven't even cut anything with it yet.

Thanks, any other opinions?

Oh and I like that Krein' ed Skyline in the background:thumbup:

My unprofessional opinion is that the kershaw's Damascus blades take a good edge, that seems to be toothier than the 13C26. The 13cC26 seems to keeps the edge a little better. I wouldn't use the Damascus as a hard use knife, but they sure are perdy and make a dandy gents blade.

I like your assessment.
They do produce a good edge, though not as good as the 13C26 or the new 14C28N.
Add to that the great looks for a decent price.

2brothers, might I ask how many knives you own? It seems like you call kershaw and order, "2 of everything please, to go" lol. I wish I could have a collection half of what you have.

I have......a few. Some models I like more than others so I buy more of them.
Heck, I've been buying knives forever.
Some I may only buy 2, but others like the DAM Leek, I have many. ;)

I saw the pics of your rediculous DAM leek collection. You have upwards of 30 from my memory.
