Anybody know much about these knives or have experience with them?

Looking for a good all around hunting knife to do it all so to speak from field dressing to butchering.

I know the KaBar comes with a better sheath but that's about it

Any info is appreciated thanks!

These are the two knives

The Kershaw Diskin Hunter is a great knife. I love mine and it takes an atom splitting edge. The handle is so well thought out I wondered why it had not been done before. It is very comfortable. I actually replaced a much more expensive knife with one of these.

How convenient, I just got done using mine for the first time! I purchased it last December right after deer season. I have been waiting a whole year to use it! I was lucky enough to meet and talk with Matt Diskin (Matt who?) at blade show this past June. I told him I was excited to use the Kershaw Diskin fixed blade hunter For this upcoming season! So if you see this Matt, I kept my word and I did use it for the first day of rifle season. And yes it was even better than I had expected, which was that it would be quite good!

My first impression was that it might be a little too large but that was my only reservation when I recieved it. I was wrong and it performed admirably. I did not touch it from the factory so the edge was straight from Tualatin and very sharp! It zipped through the gutting process even better than my other knives I've used due to the perfect length. When I got the deer home I had zero trouble skinning and quartering it with the Diskin. It lasered through the front quarters and did the same throughout the rest of the cuts. I washed it off when done and it looks good as new. I will most likely only strop it when I get around to it before going out again later next week. I looked closely and saw no nicks or rolled edges from hitting the spine or any other bones with the 14c28n (I didn't expect there to be anyway).

Man I am tickled pink about this knife. For the money you aren't going to find anything better. I actually preferred this over my swamprat with sr101. It is much thinner ground with the hollow edge and therefor better suited for tastes anyway. So yes I will ecstatically recommend this awesome Kershaw for the price point its a homerun to me!

I tried to keep the pictures not so "Bloody" for those with queasy stomachs.

Nice tall 9 point I got him at 7am this morning. Today was the first day of rifle season here.

I really like my diskin hunter a lot. I though the handle would be too thin but after holding it not at all. I haven't used it for skinning but I have as a camp food prep knife and it excels in that category
