i just ordered a black kershaw shallot. i was wondering how well the tungsten dlc coating handles. im thinking of using it as a beater because i got it so cheap, and my last kershaw leek was just not strong enough for anything but food prep or light edc. so will the black dlc coating wear fast or scrape off? and also if you have a picture of a very used black coating kershaw knife please post it, no matter how long i have searched i couldnt find a worn down dlc blade.

My ZT 0200 has been great. The DLC wears much better than expected, nothing like teflon coatings (which will "scrape" off, as you mentioned)

I'll try to get a pic up tomorrow of the wear.

thanks for your posts, i have had a cheapo 10 dollar knife that supposedly had a 'brand new dlc coating' and it all came off of the blade in one piece, it was pretty cool, but i just didnt want it to happen again(although i knew it wasnt going to be as bad as that lol).

I would not hesitate to get any of the Kershaw offering with the DLC coating. My experiences with it have only been positive.

My very well used Spec Bump:

My ZT0400, not used as much as the Spec Bump, but still used quite a lot.

i can tell you have used the bump quite alot from the condition of the pocket clip, but the dlc coating still looks good. thanks for your posts, i am hoping this stuff will last quite a while, and from the looks from your pics i can see that it most likely will.
