Just picked up an iridium for edc. Only experience I've had with crossbar locks is with a old version of cold steel recon 1 and dog spec elite many years ago. Only had iridium a few days and cut cardboard did some feather sticks and general use but so far seems quality. Anybody have any issues with their duralock model?

I picked up a Covalent to satisfy a couple of curiosities. The first was more around how well they could pair a flipper opener with a crossbar lock. The answer there is "very well". The bearings are incredibly smooth, to the point where if you hold the knife horizontal (parallel to the ground), you can fully open it just by pulling back on the Duralock. The second was just seeing their take on the crossbar lock. Through my limited time with it so far, it had held up just fine. There are full metal liners (at least in the Covalent), so the lockbar does get wedged in nice and secure, and it is easy to disengage one-handed (or even one-fingered).

I have the Kershaw Monitor and have been really impressed with it. The flipper action is really smooth on the KVT bearings and the duralock is just as smooth if not smoother than the Benchmades I've handled. I do wish the handle was G10 instead of FRN, but overall it's my favorite non automatic Kershaw knife to date.
