Hey guys,

i have been eyeing the E.T. for a while now, if for nothing else, the satisfaction of coming up with new and interesting ways to open it. my biggest concern is whether to get the combo edge or the plain. its one of those things that for the most part is personal preference. this new generation of partial serrations from kershaw was a little disarming when i first noticed it on my red rescue blur. but any concerns about their effectiveness was put to rest while being an idiot with a cardboard frisbee and a left thumb (its still attached, minus a small patch of skin behind the knuckle....all healed, and a permanent reminder not to be a dumbass). so i have no doubt that the serrations will do their jobs. and i don't plan on abusing this knife (read put to some serious cardboard workouts), as i do with my other work EDC's. i have noticed, that almost all 1900's reviewed here have been PE. any thoughts from owners of either blade? or people who have gone through this same dilemma with the 1900 or other blades?

Thanks for welcoming me to the forums.

Matt

Plain edges are easier to sharpen. I think 50/50 knives give you too little of either kind of edge. They should be 100% plain or 100% serrated. On the 50/50 knives I've owned, I always end up hitting a coulple of the serrations when I sharpen the PE part, and round them down eventually.

I've got a Kershaw ET comming soon and I can't wait!

I have one with a CE, I haven't put it up to any serious test but I can say it's a very nice blade. You won't be disappointed either way, it's very unique knife.
