I love G&G Hawk designs and I've been wanting to try out an E.T. for quite a while. I found this abused/ beat-up E.T. on eBay for pretty cheap and bought it. It was in even worse condition than I thought from the pics, but the blade was in decent shape so I pressed ahead on refurbing it.

This is by no means a rebuild or restore project- I plan to carry this knife and see if it's something I like, then possibly buy one in better shape, so I just wanted something that was useable. First, I took it all apart... I'm amazed by the sheer number of parts this thing has... 6 PB washers, 8 steel washers, ETC.

I started by cleaning the years of gunk and dirt from everything. I then used sandpaper to lessen some of the deep gouges in the handles.
After it was all cleaned and roughed, I sprayed several light coats of black Rustoleum appliance epoxy paint. I couldn't get it in satin black, so glossy was gonna hafta work. After the final coat, I hung the parts in the oven on a piece of wire and cooked at 170 degrees for a couple hours.

I used the baking time to try to straighten out the mangled pocket clip and put a new edge on the blade with my edge-pro. After polishing the washers and applying some nano-lube, the knife is in excellent working condition and the blade is super sharp. It's still not pretty, but serviceable. :-)
