Anyone care to tell me anything about the ET? How is is for a basic EDC compared to say a minicyclone or leek. I'm looking for a replacement for my current EDC and this knife has really attracted me.

Don't be skeered. Go get one now, sure to be a classic some day, no doubt.

Loved to play with mine but ended up giving it to my youngest daughter. She's 17 and is darn near as big a blade lover as her dad. See if you don't know exactly how that toggle action works, when it closes it takes a cute little cut out of the side of your thumb. I showed my daughter how to work it by staying well back. I get regular updates on all the "Manly" little cowboys who want to show her how to operate that knife and all the knicked thumbs! Ya it got me too the first time so I can laugh!
Great knife! Lots of fun to fiddle with and works really well too. Very stout.

can someone post a picture of how you open a bottle with the ET? everyone loves to tout this feature, and well, I am going off to college next year, and I'm not a fan of keychain bottle openers.........

Well I took a look at some of the youtube videos and now I'm turned off. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome knife with a really cool opening feature, but it looks way to big for what I want it for. That's a common problem I have with knives, either way to big or too small. Something around the size of my SAK Soldier, but one handed opening with a locking blade would be good. I don't like knives with huge handles either, like ones that are really wide or bulky, something slim with a good cutting blade.

I would go with your first comparisons then. Mini Cyclone or Leek.
Leek is nice and slim and you can get one in just about any handle and blade.

You might check out the Shallot if you want something thin yet stout. I picked one of those up a few weeks ago, and it hasn't left my pocket since. 3.5" blade, nice slim print due to the frame lock, very sleek and clean lines, AO that gives a good solid *thwack* when it pops open (can be opened by just starting the action, then manually pulling it into a locked position if you think the AO might be off putting to someone.

As far as the ET goes, I'm really tempted to pick up one. I was thinking the Urban Cammo one might be pretty cool to have on hand. The action looks like a lot of fun. I'm also thinking about getting a JDII or maybe a large Cyclone...I can't decide what's next:p

I have three ETs. Well I had four. I got my first one which was quickly 'borrowed' by the wife and never seen again, at least not by me. :D

Then for Christsmas I got my son and my wife each one as gifts and right before xmas got me an urban camo one. So, my wife and I have all three versions NewGraham was selling and my son got one of the black ones. I like the ET as a novelty collectible folder personally but that doesn't mean it can't work. It sure can do that. I do love the blade shape, its highly useful and a great shape more on the lines of a modified Wharncliffe shape with a bit of upsweep toward the tip which I prefer. I did carry mine for a bit and now and then I go back to it. It is an engineering masterpiece I look to become one of the cult classics one day.

My wife uses hers all the time for all kinds of jobs from working in the garden in the summer to package opening and tape cutting. Her only gripe is that she has been telling me to hint to Thomas that they need to make a 'feminine' pink or mauve one like that Leek she saw once that someone gave me (he'll remember) and that it needs to be downsized for a womans hands.

I haven't done it yet though. Been too busy and never think of it when we talk. ;)

I already have a leek and a minicyclone, that is why I was wondering how close it compares to those in size, never having seen one.

Here's a pic of mine next to a few models you may be familiar with....

I still want to see someone open a bottle with their "bottle opener" do you just press the clip onto the cap and flip upwards?

About the same size as a Blur, that's not too bad, I might be still thinking about it. Thanks for the photo

I think they kidnapped G&G Hawk from NASA.....cause they have to
be rocket scientist. ;)
