Kershaw Echelon Complaints?

There are some threads with more details, but in short, I am not crazy about the pocket clip, the screws interfere with the knife seating all the way down. Also, I took the torsion bar out of mine to make it manual.

The only problem I had was with the pocket clip screw barrel not seating properly (had this issue with other G10 Kershaws). Other than that, it's a great knife. The blade to handle ratio is excellent.

Mine is tough to flick open(my blur's opens with very little effort as do all my other AO's from Kershaw)) not sure if it's unique, but a little bit of a let down, otherwise I really like everything else, looks like some kind of badass insect :D

Was going to get one of these from A G Russell when they became "unavailable" for some
reason. If A G doesn't want to sell it I'm not gonna buy it.

Just wondering, does the Echelon have a pit for the ball detent, or is the blade held in by the torsion bar?

You can de-assist it, it has a nice detent. Mine is and I much prefer it that way. Also, mine was really hard to deploy at first. Now though, de-assisted I can flip mine open with the thumb lug by my thumb and my middle finger like a Spyderco. I would put the build quality up there with other Kershaw's. Not perfect in terms of aesthetics, but functionally no complaints.

Had one that had to go back due to blade play. Tried to adjust the pivot and had no luck. A replacement was sent from the amazon jungle and it was good to go.

Impossible to find at knife retailers, easy to find at list or near list price at general retailers. Been waiting for mine since May and needless to say I'm unhappy.

I wrote Kershaw about it, they responded very quickly which shows good customer service. However, I still don't have my knife. LE's, SFO's I understand, as I'm waiting for my BF Skyline too but I knew that it would be awhile going in. As for the Echelon though, I'm still puzzled as to why it's easily available at full price but scarce as a hen's tooth at major online knife retailers.

The only complaint I have is that it's not easy to take apart due to the stop pin and the lanyard pin being extremely tight. It's a small thing, but there's some gunk next to the torsion bar and I can't get to it. It's driving me crazy. Really great knife though guys.

I like mine, my boss bought one after he saw and held mine. The assisted opening was a bit tough at first but after I opened and closed it many times it broke in and a I rather enjoy it. I love the blade design and overall I really enjoy the knife.

And you're keeping it a secret about where you found it? Thanks.

Also, what did you pay? I know a few places have them at full
He might not disclose where because the store might not be a Bf Dealer member and he's not interested in the chiclets.

After waiting nearly two years, finally found it in stock at a major online site at the discounted price I was willing to pay. Five seconds after opening it, I knew I was going to return it for a refund. The detent is so strong that I could not open the blade without applying terrific pressure with my thumb on the thumbstud. That's a sure recipe for disaster, when the blade finally snaps open and your thumb goes slicing along the edge of the blade. No thanks, Kershaw. I'll stick with the IO assisted openers and you can keep this. Big disappointment. On the plus side, my wife gave me a Kershaw Clash and a Half-Ton as anniversary gifts and I love them both.

I found three places that had it in stock on the first page of a Google search. I have no idea why people are complaining about availability.

I don't think anybody is complaining about availability now. But the knife was unveiled nearly two years ago, and was very difficult to find until recently. During that time, a few would be dribbled out by Kershaw and immediately snatched up by whoever was lucky enough to get to them first. And even when it was available somewhere, it was often at full MSRP.
