Just wanted to ask everyone about their feelings about the Kershaw Echelon. Likes and dislikes, edge retention, etc. I ordered one last night to try the blade shape. To me, it looks to be a poor man's Strider SJ-75.

Have one that I took out the bar and thumb studs. Nice edc with a steel that will take an edge but not hold it for long.

Nice pic woodysone, I raised Nubians for several years, and showed them at fairs, etc.

They have removed the sculpted contours around the cutout around the thumb studs. I have heard that the thumb studs with the first gen sculpted contours rattled. That might be why Kershaw went with the simpler version which do not rattle. I have seen some sellers using stock photos of the first gens when they are actually selling the newer version. As near as I can tell the knife is otherwise the same. I like the knife mostly because of the G10. Opening via the thumb studs could be easier and without a good solid flick it will stop short. It helps to push upwards on the stud. I wish it had a flipper. That said, I'm not tempted to de-assist it. I really like the blade profile and finish. I wish the pocket clip and screws were a natural finish to match. It's very light and easy to carry as an EDC.

If it didn't have the natural G10 I wouldn't have noticed it, the second gen version anyway. I haven't used it enough to judge edge retention.
