I was just looking at some Kershaw knives (never owned one before) and came across the Echo. Looks like a cool knife, particulalrly for the price. Anyone own one? Also if you own a Chive, chime in about what you think of it.

I have had my Chive for 3 days. I am alternating it with an aluminum Cricket. It is my first speed-safe knife and it is great. It is also very attractive and light. I think it also saved me about $80 since I don't think that I will end up buying a Mouse since I like this one so much.

Extremely sharp out of the box and the ergonomics are very good, the sole exception being that the index opening is a bit awkward. In fact, it would have already beat out the Cricket if it didn't have that problem. The one-hand opening on the Cricket is still better, but I prefer the Chive blade shape. The semi-skinner shape is better for multipurpose use.

I got mine at Bayou Lafourche.

I thought the Echo was not bad for the money. Almost a fixed blade 1560 Whirlwind. The only real problem is the sheath, and made in China on the handle. Seemed a little cheezy.

The chive on the other hand, is way cool! Very fast!

I do not like the Chive. Its very small. Slightly under 2" blade. My hands just seem to large for it. I had trouble opening it. I do have a mini-task that I like a lot. Perhaps I will try a Scallion.

I've had a Chive for two days, I bought it after handling a couple other Onions. Ken is obviously following the letter of the law...it doesn't have a button.

It's a cute little bugger, almost a two finger knife with my large hands, and it came sharp. (I sharpened it of course. :)) I went to a wedding reception tonight and it disappeared in my pocket, even with the clip. Mine has a lock for the blade that I never saw advertised, it almost auto-engages when you clip it to your pocket.

It feels good in my hand, a very solid grip for such a small knife. It is sharp now and cuts cardboard well, but I expect that from a hollow ground blade this thin.

Negatives -

Mine lost it's center in a couple hours, not enough to rub the liner though.

Plastic back spacer - I like my steel knives ALL steel.

Blade lock is not positive, unless you check visually, you don't know if if's engaged.

I would like to see more 'grip' in the lock release area, it can be hard to unlock this small knife.

Positives -

Nice recurve blade.

Solid positive clip.

Solid positive lock, I love frame locks!

Other than the blade moving over - good fit and finish. Could the blade movement be connected to the 'torsion bar' technology?

Very small and light.

I don't know how Ken does it, but this little sucker opens in a flash. (I may have to take it apart...anyone know anything about this?)

All in all - I like small knives and frame locks and so far this knife is not a disappointment. I am unfamiliar with this steel and will have to see how it retains its edge. This is not a heavy use knife, more of a gents knife and if used in this manner, I think it will please most people.

...chuckle...

I did not begin this as a review...oh well. :)
