I just got offered one of these in a trade and was wondering if any of you have experience with it. i love the looks of it and the size/ full-tang construction are very appealing as a hiking/camping blade. the 8cr13mov steel isnt the best but i guess its ok. so, what do you guys think of it? also, hows the sheath it comes with? thanks in advance.

I had one at one point til I gave it to my brother so he had a proper outdoor knife though the model I had was an aus-8 steel. Really like both the handle shape and the blade shape. Sheath really sucks but easy to make a new one.

thanks for the input. i think i will be making a new sheath anyway since it doesn't have a retention strap. i know its not neccessary but i prefer having one on an outdoors knife.

I carried an Echo for quite some time as my hiking blade a couple years back. Mine was an old school AUS 8 model with a nice black leather sheath. I really liked it. It cut like a champ with its recurve blade, it fit my hand like a glove and it was nice and easy to keep hair poppin sharp! The sheath is nice thick leather and dropped the knife down to the perfect place on my hip so that it was easy to get in and out.

Suggestions?

maybe a sandvik steel... i am no pro on pricing for steel but it i think it would have been possible if it was 13c26. maybe it would up the price a bit but i couldn't imagine it would make a huge difference. im sure its due to the fact that there is more steel needed obviously since its a full tang fixed. are the aus8 steel versions a more recent run?
