I have several kershaw knives. I really like the brand. I have several us made ones. But I find myself going back to the Emerson colab. Never thought I would like a Chinese built knife over us made. The quality and the edge retention are good. That and a cryo 2 are my picks of them
I ended up with a 0566 clone by accident the seller made it right and told me to keep the knife because of the hassle. I really love the design. Couple things came up and couldn't get a real 0566. I've carried it and feels very good in the pocket. Very similar to the cryo 2 . Thoughts on the kershaw emerson or cryo 2 or the 0566

Never been a fan of assisted knives in general because de-assisting a knife is hit-and-miss of the spring resistance when trying to close the knife is unpleasant. The only assisted knife I was ever really a fan of was the Kershaw Echelon, which became a notably nicer knife once I removed the spring.

The Cryo’s design doesn’t do anything for me in either form or function, and I found the 0566 was just too heavy for the size.

Kershaw-Emerson knives, in my experience, are excellent. I have heard generally poor things about the CQC 1-3, but the 4 and beyond have been generally well-received. I have only owned the 4KXL and 10k, but I was very pleased with both. I really want a 10KXL to be released, but that’s probably not going to happen - leaving my dream of a cost-effective Emerson CQC12 forever unrealized.

I have the 4KXL, 6K and 7K. The 6K and 7K are a bit small for my tastes. If you don't mind a larger knife I would recommend the 4KXL for it's overall utilitarian blade shape (closest in my mind to an Emerson Gentleman Jim or Journeyman). My issue with the Kershaw Emersons and the ZT Emersons is the kind of ridiculous detent.

I currently own the Kershaw Emerson CQC6K and have owned the actual ZT0566. The 0566 is a good knife if you like assisted openers. I prefer manual opening ZT’s with kvt bearings myself though.
The CQC6K seems to be a decent knife, the wave feature works but the knife makes a metal to metal squeaking sound when opening. The quality seems to be there, actually from what I’ve read some folks would put it on par with actual Emerson’s.
I can’t really comment on the Cryo 2 since I’ve never owned one.

Second the 4KXL . Nice big blade for utility or SD . Good F&F and it all works perfect . Detente is great for my use .
