I've been playing through my mind about buying one of these knives. I love gadgets. This knife is certainly a gadget. Is it useable? Does anyone out there have one? If so, what has been your experience with it? thanks so much.

Gadget? I guess you could classify it as a gadget. And a fun one at that. But still a useful knife.
Usable? Absolutely! It's a great knife for hiking, backpacking, camping, etc. anytime you might need a nice blade without carrying a lot of weight.
Do I have one? Yes! and I really like it!
My experience? It's a neat knife, but make sure you know a) where the blade is going to go when you open and close it, and b) where your fingers are when you open and close it!

I bought one for my son. Not the easiest to open or close but once you get the hang of it, there's nothing to it. Plus the design lends itself to different methods of opening. Like SPX says, watch your fingers, especially when closing. There's definitely the "gadget" factor associated with this knife but there's really much more to the design. Excellent grind and geometry on the blade. Extremely well built, modestly priced with a decent proven steel. I think the method in which it locks is superb and strange (in a good way) at the same time. Strange in that the lock also is responsible for opening the knife. Once the bottom handle cams over and the knife is open, it's impossible to close the blade unless you toggle it or pull the bottom handle down. I guess it could accidentally close if a stick somehow managed to slip between your fingers and slide between the handles as you were pulling up with the knife. I can live with the odds of that happening.

What DV said. ;)
Very cool knife with probably the sharpest OTB edge I've ever gotten.
Great blade shape and rock solid lock-up. And yes, it is cool.
