Kershaw expert advise.

Dave (Kershawguy) would be the best to take a shot at this.
If you don't get any responses here, shoot him a PM.
He's a walking Kershawpedia. ;)

I believe the new ones are made in china or taiwan while that one is marked as german. I was looking at it as I like the design but have a hard time buying chinese or paying over 2x retail for one that isnt.

Edit: AG Russell's site says made in china from german steel for the new ones so it's entirely possible that the link you posted shows a knife no different than the ones that cost $45 new.

The seller is across the pond, too. Not that it matters mind you, but I prefer buying (from an) American! :D

The knife looks like an older model to me...where's Dave when you need him? :D Or maybe someone from their European Liaison Office in Düsseldorf, West Germany will chime in....

I guess the stenciling on mine is a little different. Mine also says China. If it is real then that design is very old.

The design is quite old. It is entirely possible that this is the real deal. Note the leather boot sheath. The newer ones don't have that IIRC.

That is one of the early ones made in Germany. The earliest one I see show up in price list is 1984. Price in 1984 was $65 with sheath included. So his date is wrong but it is the real deal.
