Hi Kershaw pros,

I bought three Leeks at a gun show a long time ago.

Two of them are just plain ol' Leeks.

But this third one is an oddball.

It says "Random Leek 1660TCKT" on the box flap. Black handle, black blade.

Blade has a Nov. 04 date. Says S30V for the steel, I guess.

I'd post a couple of photos, but I can't figure out how to do it.

Thanks.

Does it look like this one?

If so, you can find some more info about it here and here. There are actually quite a few BF threads on the topic. The 2nd link is just one of them. Try doing a Google or BF search to find them; it was easy for me to do so just using "Random Leek 1660T".

Random Leek was a reverse tanto model of the leek as indicated by the T in the naming. CKT is something they have used many times in the past. I think it indicates the black coating or was a store exclusive but someone with better knowlege should be able to help you with that.

Plenty of info has been posted already, so, I'll just chime in to say that there was a Kershaw knife named "Random Task" that had a similar bladeshape, and the "Random Leek" nomeclature reflects combining that blade style with the Leek handles. It should be an excellent utilitarian knife for carry, but, noting that it is about 14 years out of production, don't expect to get a replacement blade for it from Kershaw if you snap the tip.

CKT = Cerakote. It's a thin industrially-applied ceramic coating with a high hardness.

Isn't this your thread from 2007 on the same subject?

Velitruis,

Wow, I sure did post that. That was about 11 years ago! Please forgive me for being so repetitive.:D

And you sure have a great memory for someone with ADD.

As you can see, I don't get here much. Right now I have 278 posts here in about 18 years.

I knew I asked about it somewhere but didn't remember which forum. For some reason I thought I asked about it in a firearms forum that had a pretty good knife section.

Anyway, I just re-read the post, and I assume you just read it too. If you did, you saw where the whole thread got off topic pretty fast and never got back on track.

But after all that tme, there doesn't seem to be much, or any new information about the knife.

Oh well.

Sold all my leeks too. Great knife, just never got carried. Glad you got some info one your knife...something is better than nothing. :)

I hold my Leek somewhat responsible for leading down this rabbit hole. A "gateway" knife...

The TCKT Leek if NIB would bring about $150 to $200 on eBay. Same for the BG Leek....

I am a Leek buyer is anyone is selling :)
