for my first post on kershaw forum i will share with you my small collection
I have become a big fan of kershaw over the past year, and they are my
e.d.c. (except for a SOG twitch xl that i like a lot)
I love the action on the assisted opening models and the flippers.
Question: can you tell me the type of steel used on the 2 j.y.they both are
marked feb.07
type of steel on the 2 cyclones, date is june 06
I have been looking at the new Tyrade, very tempting but very expensive, for
those that own one,is it worth the money?
thanks
Marc

Nice collection!
Thanks for sharing.
Over six hundred posts and only one here in the Kershaw forum?
You have enough Kershaws, you should be pretty comfortable here. :)

According to the info in this thread - 13C26 Changeover Born On Dates, your JYD's and Cyclones are 13C26 (all of them have been in this steel).

The Tyrade is an awesome knife, so far most feedback on it has been excellent.

Mahalo kauai Marc, and welcome to our world. The change over dates thread for the use of 13C26 is listed here. To address your questions without you having to dig around, the JYD's and Cyclones both have 13C26. For a list of all the knives involved in the changeover, you can find it at the link I provided. Basic rule of thumb is July 07. That's when all Kershaws went to 13C26 Some older new stock is still floating around in the distribution system, so checking the Born On Date is worth the time.

I don't have a Tyrade, so I can't address that knife except to saw it was Kershaws first release of the Composite Blade. I've handled one, and they're impressive. A lot bigger than they look.

I've been hooked on Kerhsaws for over a year now, and I've got a house full of em. They're a lot of knife for the money, and having custom makers like Ken Onion, Lee Williams, Grant and Gavin Hawk, Tim Galyean and RJ Martin working with them have given us some fantastic knives to consider. SpeedSafe is remarkable, and the non AO flippers are just as fast as some of the AO's. And their customer service is second to none...They'll do whatever it takes to make you happy. Also, it's nice to be involved with Kershaw when Ken, Lee, Tim, RJ and Gavin stop by to chat or answer questions. Even the man from Sandvik has been answering questions here recently. Speaking of Sandvik, January 2009 kicks off the full line of Kershaws with 14C28N steel, an exclusive between Kershaw and Sandvik.

Welcome to our drug...:D Enjoy your stay!

EDIT: My fingers aren't working as fast as kd's today...

The Tyrade is definately worth it's price, probably a bit more! Everything about mine has been excellent, and once in hand, you'll have a hard time leaving it!:thumbup::D

Very nice start Kaui Marc, and welcome to this little niche of the forums!:D
Now just go out and buy 3 more of each of the models you already have, go and find as many older, discontinued Kershaws as you can find, and get every single new model that comes out in at least triplicate, and you'll be half as sick as the rest of us!!:D

Another  for the tyrade as well.

Cheers,
Jonny
