I just picked up a Tanto blade Kershaw Groove. Lots to like about this knife, but the flipper is a bit stiff, and the blade isn't centered. Instead the blade leans closer to the non-clip side, and it only gets worse if I loosen the pivot screw to enhance the flipper action. Also the scale on the clip side is a little off center near the pivot. I'm new to knives so I thought I would ask if there are any self help fixes to center the blade and smooth out the flipper action. Thanks for any words of advice.

Okay, I broke it down, cleaned all of the old black lube off of it, reassembled, relubed, and repeatedly deployed it. It's now deploying pretty well. The blade still isn't perfectly centered. It's clearly the frame lock that pushes the blade off center. I'm not sure if there is anything more to do, or if that's pretty much par for the course. By the way the weight seems to be always misstated on websites. They always list the higher weight of the non-tanto version. I really like the ergos of this knife, and may need to buy a non-tanto. What's really scary is it has me considering the purchase of a Havoc from RJ Martin.

Seems no one is particularly interested in my Tanto Groove, but for those who might search this forum looking for answers I wanted to report the final resolution. Because the knife was purchased through Amazon, I was able to exchange it for another Tanto Groove. The replacement knife has none of the problems encountered in the first knife. The blade isn't perfectly centered but it isn't grossly off center like the initial knife, and the new knife deploys quite well right out of the box. Also, with the new knife the scale under the clip is appropriately aligned. Obviously the first knife was a lemon.

I'm looking at getting one, so thanks for your posts. Hopefully I don't have the same issue though.
