I've been eyeing the Kershaw groove for quite a while now. It looks awesome and seems like a great sized and sturdy folder for the cash, which makes me wonder why I haven't heard too much about it.

Some one who owns one, can you tell me how you like it? Thanks!

Because it is a older model that has been discontinued.

It is a nice knife that is the right size for me. But the blades striations collect junk, and dirt and that has been a rust problem for me. If it came with a regular blade it might kick my Salvo out of my pocket for my work knife.

Interesting, I like the grooves in the blade but I can see how it's not very practical. I use a salvo often for a user and it's great, another model that isn't spoken of often.

The Groove is a heavier knife that can be prone to rust. But, all of my beadblasted Kershaws rust in this NC humidity. If you want a great larger user blade, pick one up. Just make sure you keep some oil on the blade.

You'll love the ergos and the flipper action is very smooth. The jimpinging isn't sharp, buts it's sufficient combined with the psuedo ramp on the spine.

Lastly, it's one pretty girl.

They also have a black DLC Tanto Groove if you are worried about rust.

Just get one already, I prefer my tuned up Tanto DLC with a G&G Hawk Grip Clip. Its one of a few go to knives. I have 4 so far.

I love mine...about the same size as my Sebenza. Slim and lightweight...easy to carry.

I've got both the tanto and drop point (interestingly, the tip on the drop is more robust). I like the striations, especially for cutting things like nylon tubing. Regular blades bind up in the cut, but the striations prevent that.

I think the Groove is just about the perfect pocket knife. Big enough to fill the hand and feel sturdy, but not so big it takes up too much room in your pocket. Flips with amazing smoothness, even more so then my 0560 and it is one sexy looking blade. I can see the pros and cons of the striation, but I think that if they would have been left off sales would have been high enough not to find it's way to the discontinued list.

I've put one of G&G grip clips on mine to finish it off and it works great. It's the knife that finds it's way to the cargo pockets on my shorts most of the time.

I'd love to get one of the Rainbow ones they look so weird but awesome

I'm excited to see so much positive feedback about the knife. Makes me want it even more! :D

I love the groove. It is certainly a conversation starter with the striations, overlays and lack of thumb studs.

The lack of thumb studs is probably my favorite part about the knife.

The one thing you'll also notice about the Groove is how smooth the opening is. Non assisted, but the weight of the blade helps with the opening.

The Groove is a great knife, I was just comparing my 1730 to the pics of the 0600 and I realized the blade profile is nearly identical, only the jimping and striations are different.
Also interesting, as I recall, the Groove was considered a frame lock that had G10 overlays, and not a liner lock.

I briefly had a DLC Tanto Groove; for a day after Blade 2011 (thanks to the kindness of RJ). I thought it was a really nice knife. I ended up giving it to a soldier I met on the plane back to Miami, he was on a short leave home before heading back to the sandbox. I surprised him with his choice of RJ Kershaws that I had in my bag, orange or black Zing, Chill, Volt 2, or the Tanto Groove. Didn't take too long for him to decide, the grin on his face when I pulled it out of the box gave me all the answer I needed. Hopefully it served him well (and continues to) and hopefully he's home by now.

That's a great thing you did there kneedeep. I'm sure he uses it all the time.

What does that say when he chooses the groove out of all those choices? It means its the coolest one out of um all!

The groove is great. It has a certain heft to it which I find makes the knife feel very substantial. Also it isn't just the Groove in particular but all of my bead blasted knives rust like crazy out here.

I just picked up the drop-point and tanto-point versions.

Quite interesting knives!

I figured that I would get these instead of the forthcoming ZT 0600.

I didn't even start paying attention to Kershaw knives until about a year ago.

I had Reinbow Groove. It was superb knife for the price. Ergonomics were great. Steel was good and it was gentlemans flipper. Why I flipped open it lick gently and polietly flipped open and locked solid without huge and tacical snap. Yes, a polite flipper is how I would describe the late rainbow groove. I had financial issue and downsized modern folders extensively so I sold it while back in here. Great knife but I don't particularly miss it.
