WTF Do you guys use to sharpen your tyrades? I am getting frustrated trying to get my tyrade sharp. I have a lansky set and I get my other non-recurve blades hair whittling sharp, but the shape of the blade prevents my using of the stones.

Thanks in advance

Spyderco Sharpmaker.

Or the paper wheels that Richard J. talks about in the Maintenance, Tinkering and Embellishment forum.

Either should run you ~$50.

Or you can send it to Kershaw and they'll get it back to you quite sharp for free :)

The tools for sharpening a recurve are limited and most of them don't work as well as most say. For me I like to apply a convex bevel to recurves because its much easier and does not bring the need for special sharpening equipment.

I wouldn't think that the Tyrade would have enough of a recurve to make a difference, but I haven't got my Lansky set out in a while so.....

I either use a paper wheel set on a grinder or a Sharpmaker type sharpener. It just depends on the condition of the blade.

Now the Spec Bump is a booger to get sharp.

The sharpmaker appears to have the same width stones as my lansky set. They still work ok?

I have my BM 710 razor sharp with a 30 degree bevel and the diamond rods included makes it much faster, even on S30V. The corners, as mentioned let you really get into those recurved spots.

I use diamond down to fine, then strop the daylights out of them and boy are they comeout nice. All you have to be careful on is to hold the knife straight, as you draw it across the rods. ;)

Sharpmaker all the way. A key is tonever let it get dull. When I carry and use mine I wll hit it about 10 strokes on each side at days end.
