Hope you all enjoy!

It would be nice at the very least if you could write a synopsis as not to force people to watch the video. This is after all a discussion board not a video board.

Not going to watch the video. Too many horrible video reviews on YouTube as it is.

I'll wait for the book.

People express themselves in many different ways...I chose a video...if you don't want to watch it you don't have to. I post videos here because I find they may be relevant to the community's discussion of a particular product. You can capture a lot about a product in a video that you may not be able to communicate via photos and words. However, for those of you who are interested....

Kershaw Freefall:
SpeedSafe assisted opening
Liner lock
Flipper and thumbstud
Reversible pocketclip; deep-carry
Steel: 8Cr13MoV, stonewashed finish
Handle: Glass-filled nylon, K-Texture™ grip
Blade length: 3.25 in. (8.3 cm)
Closed length: 4.25 in. (10.8 cm)
Overall length: 7.5 in. (19 cm)
Weight: 4.1 oz. (116.2 g)

This is a nice sized EDC that fits the hand well. The worst part about the one that comes in the Holiday Pack is that it does not come speed safe. It was initially very difficult to open, though it has since loosened up quite a bit. Other things to note:

The K texture is quite grippy
The lanyard hole is well sized but may be placed where it could start a hot spot.
The pocket clip is tip up only, left or right side, and deep carry. It works well and shows little in the pants.
Jimping on the blade and the handle is just aggressive enough.
I really like this blade shape and look for it to hold up well.
The black coating feels somewhat cheap.

Swerve:

SpeedSafe assisted opening
Liner lock
Flipper and thumbstud
Reversible pocketclip; deep-carry
Steel: 8Cr13MoV, stonewashed finish
Handle: Glass-filled nylon, K-Texture™ grip
Blade length: 3 in. (7.6 cm)
Closed length: 4.25 in. (10.8 cm)
Overall length: 7.25 in. (18.4 cm)
Weight: 4.8 oz. (136.1 g)

This knife is again sized for EDC. While it doesn't fit the hand quite as well as the swerve it is mostly comfortable and the K texture is, again very nice. Again the worst part is that this didn't come with the speed safe, and, unfortunately, this knife has not loosened up enough since i got it for the flipper to be relevant. Other notes:

No lanyard hole on this one.
The pocket clip is not deep carry and is only tip up left or right.
I really like the blade shape. It has a nice sized belly and makes cutting chores fairly effortless.
Jimping on the knife is fairly useless.
The black coating is again cheap feeling. I look for it to wear heavily.

Flashlight:

The flashlight is made of a cheap aluminum and it's really just a bonus to the value you're getting out of the 2 knives included in the holiday pack. It would be a good back up light to your back up light, but not much more. It takes 3 AAA batteries and uses 9 LEDs. The OTF lumens are not advertised on the product.

Definitely a product worth checking out. I hope Kershaw keeps producing these different holiday packs each year!

Thank you for adding the text. This is a knife "discussion" site. We want to talk about the knives here and not on someone's youtube page. When someone continually embeds a youtube video review followed by comments like "don't forget to subscribe" or reminders to "like" the video we run in to trouble. Posting a video review is fine but we very much appreciate a written review as well. :)

Please double-check the blade steel of those two knives.

I was interested in the Swerve, but didn't want another knife that would end up in a drawer because it was assisted.

On the Exchange recently, I saw a Swerve advertised as being non-assisted.
I confirmed this with the seller, who said it had come in a pack with another knife and flashlight.

What the seller failed to mention was that the blade steel is 3Cr13 -- not the standard Chinese 8Cr13Mov steel which you list in your review.

As for the rest of the knife, the detent isn't great and flipping is weak.

The scales feel plasticky. I haven't been able to find out what the blade coating is but the blade looks like it's painted.

I don't know why Kershaw would make a knife like this. Yes, it's aimed at a different market -- big-box customers -- not BF members. But clearly some people don't know what they are getting.

I'm not sure where you all are getting you're info on the steel I pulled it right from the manufacturers website. Of course if you all have different information I've been wrong before.

The knives certainly aren't high dollar as I mentioned in the video, however it seems like a good deal for a couple of beater knives...they're certainly not my favorites from kershaw and don't even come close to the quality of other knives from that company, however I'm sure that kershaw would like to market to many different consumers.

As for the videos, idk what to say about that I've posted here and in other forums before without much negative comment. I'm not here to get subscribers or make a buck, and I don't ask for that. I just try to show my honest opinion of these products in a medium that I'm comfortable with. I also share and comment in other ways on this forum. I guess you can take that for what it's worth.

Ah crap me running my big mouth... Just looked at the packaging for the darn thing...3cr13 on these particular models...that's a bummer. Oh well! I stand corrected.
