Kershaw Ideas For 2015 Line Up ?

Well it looks like the smoke has cleared and Kershaw has a few impressive new knives for 2014, but what do you all think they should bring to the table for next year ????

For 2015 I would like to see more folders with 4 inch blades. They didn't design long enough blades for this years line up....I want a 4 inch blade with a finger guard/flipper and a smooth manual non speed safe.

It would also be good if they made new Emerson collab folders with bigger blades and a finger guard/flipper and maybe a Hinderer/Emerson collab.

Will be interesting to hear what other ideas you guys could come up with.

Thanks :D

I' d like a full production version of the ZT 0454. Looks like this one will be so limited, it wil be impossible for me to secure one.

A couple more US made options that aren't just different coloration/finishes of the existing models, and aren't as expensive as the ZT stuff. Basically, a new US made Kershaw design in the same price range as the Blur, Leek, etc.

A couple of "larger" folders-doesn't matter if they're US made or Chinese budget models. I find big folders fun, and right now, Cold Steel almost has a monopoly on blades over 4 inches. I like my big CS folders, but it would be nice to see another company putting some options out there too.

I would love to see a USA made Kershaw Hinderer or Rexford, something under $120 but not "cheap". I am thinking elmax, linerlock, un-assisted with g10 could keep the quality up but the price reasonable. More 3.5" kershaw offerings would be nice also.

I think we need to slow down here, I need to save up on all those LE yet to come out.....KAI will no doubt have many bombshells to drop at BLADE...not to mention the 0454 and 0801cf that are yet to come out.

+1

I wish they would swap all that 8cr crap steel for some Sandvik or at least AUS-8.

Take a Dremel, grind off the 8cr, and scratch on AUS-8. You'll never know the difference. Their first plunge into Sanvik turned out not very impressive. I think knife nuts get too hung up on fancy numbers and letters and sometimes can't recognize good steel when they see it.

Kershaw did a flurry of low cost modern designs that largely seem to cannibalize each other in the last few years with names that were equally difficult to distinguish from each other. I'd like to see Kershaw move in a direction away from flippers and AO, but those things seem so closely associated with the brand, I suspect they'd be reluctant to veer away any time soon.

AO isn't going away. Thats like asking Spyderco to ditch the thumbhole, or Benchmade to lose the Axis lock. Every company has their own "thing" that they're know for. For Kershaw it's speed-safe and composite blades. I'd like to see less 8CR13MOV simply for the sake of variety. They don't need to go with anything super high-end, maybe just some 154cm and VG10. But since they're being made in China it makes sense they would use a Chinese steel. I don't consistently hard-use my folders so in reality 8CR would be okay for me. A buddy of mine has a Cryo. He works constriction and is always using his blade. He's constantly asking me to resharpen it for him. Then he recently picked up a Mini Grip with 154cm. With the same amount of use he says it lasts 3-4 times longer.

I think right now they need to concentrate on getting all their new stuff they've just announced brought to the table, nothing worse than [any] manufacturers showing all these upcoming models with amazing spec lists only to either not deliver, or to deliver a knife that doesn't stand up to the hype they've created for it.

They've got good things going, especially some of the new ZT line and their whole ZT/Kershaw w/ Emerson colab's, no reason to mess that up with something else before the first ones ever reach the table.

I would like to see a dedicated line of knives called the "stripped" or "bare bones". Where they would make stripped down, bare bones versions of their limited editions. There are many designs such as the 0888, 0454 and 0600 that many will never get to experience due to cost. Not to mention that the limited editions have some of the best ergos and useful blade shapes. I will definitely be trying to get a 0454 for the collection but in a user I would much prefer a solid blade, and less frills. Heck I would prefer a sandvik blade to a composite. I would just love to have the ergos of certain models at a lower price point. My only caveat is the knives would need to be spec'd identical sans materials. As in a kvt knife not be changed to assisted and vice versa.

I want to see a version of the Nura made in the US. Maybe with titanium handles and a super steel blade? I'd also like to see a US version of the Thistle, maybe with colored G10 and a good steel?

As for new knives, I feel that their fixed blade lineup is underwhelming. Possibly something in the 4 inch range with colored G10 and a full tang blade of 1095?

(I know, I know, Becker and ESEE fill that role. I own Beckers and ESEEs, that's why I want Kershaw to start offering something along those lines. It could be made in China--sort of a budget but high quality bushcraft blade.)

I think we will see things move in the same direction as this year.

We will see less US made Kershaw knives over time. The same store that sells a $80 blur next to a $45 Cryo will sell the Cryo every time. The average shopper knows not the difference.

I think ZT will be the main source of US products. You have already seen the 0566 and 0770. What makes those that much different than a Blur? The blade steel? Yet they can charge the enthusiast a little more for them. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with it. I'm just pointing out the obvious.

So Kershaw will be primarily import knives sold to the masses and ZT will be the enthusiast brand.

Good observation right there. I still love me some kershaw products now and then, but whenever ZT got something new out, I'm checking it out no doubt.

What would I like to see from ZT in 2015? I'd like to see a well made ZT multitool. I'd also like to see the ZT 0170 come back with a little thicker stock in B75P or Vanadis steel.

What would I like to see from Kershaw in 2015? I'd like to see the Kershaw shuffle with some licenses and get some team logos on there. I'd buy one with a Miami Heat logo, University of Florida logo, Washington Redskins logo, etc. Would I pay extra for this? Yup.

The shuffel as a promo piece is a great idea. Make them customizable or something, companies would buy that. I give the shuffle out as gifts to my non knife friends and it goes over well.

Sad but completely true. That big bass store sells Cryos for $40 and Blurs for $100! Can you believe that? It's ridiculous.
