Kershaw Injection 3.0 Review

Yeah, I think I'll have to try one of these. I love the Kershaw "budget" lineup, and the Injection is not much more spendy than those.

Mine has side-to-side blade play.

No amount of tightening the pivot screw will get rid of it. (Most of that large pivot screw area is decorative; the actual hole is tiny -- I think it takes a T6.) I'm still left with a difficult to open blade with blade play.

The dealer hand-picked this knife and reported no blade-play.

I can confirm that it was fine out-of-the-box. The play developed after a few days of opening and closing.

A Kershaw warranty rep said he had not received any similar complaints.

One other issue:

Unlike most Kershaw folders, the spacer isn't solid between the liners. There is enough space on each side to stick your fingernail -- plenty of room for dust, lint or guts and blood to get stuck.

A nice design, but, unlike another Rexford design, ZT's 0801, not a home run.

I guess not all knives come off the line perfect.. I bought 2 *3.0's one for me and one for my son. Both are solid and open flawlessly. Mine isn't carried everyday (rotated) but it get used and so far no problems. I also got a 3.5 for my bother-in-law and it also has no problems. I hunt and fish..a lot, and there are quite a few good folders I wouldn't use for blood and guts, this would be one especially with the grooves on the scales.

I remember when I picked up a couple cyro's one was great the other scraped when opened or closed and sounded like a baby rattle if you shook it, sent it back and got a new one that works perfectly.

Hopefully Kershaw can rectify your problems.:)

Just picked one of these up myself.
Nice solid feel for a small EDC. Mine had a touch of play, but it only took just a little turn on the pivot, and now she's solid.
The edge was so so, but I fully intended to put a nice shiny smile on her anyway.
It's a nice flat ground slicer.
Cheers

Picked up 3.5 version. Very impressed. No bladeplay, tight lockup, razor sharp, low profile clip. A definite winner.

Just picked up the 3.5 yesterday and so far I love this knife. It's extremely sharp out of the box and smooth as silk. Takes zero effort to open. Nice tight lockup and zero blade play. And it looks badass! Overall I'm very happy with this knife.

I just had a 3.5 arrive yesterday myself, and I really like this knife. The design really stands out from my other Kershaws, and the only thing I'd change is to make it a flipper and lose the thumb studs. Not sure if it will become part of my EDC rotation or not, but I am carrying it today to spend some quality time with it.

I love the looks and the blade shape on my 3.5. Not the most comfortable knife to use though.
