Would a 1 of 500 first production run of the first Junkyard Dog folder cost much more than a non-first production run? I saw one today in a local pawn shop, new in the box and they were asking $125.00. Seemed a premium price over what I have seen the regular model sell for online, at $25.00 plus shipping.

Thanks.

was it a custom by chance? i dont see why any of the production ones would ever go for that much

The only way I might pay 125$ for the JYD1 is if it were autographed by Jesus.

It's a nice knife, but you can get them for well under 30$.

It appears to be a regular factory model except for the 1 of 500 on the blade and Feb 07 on it. There was some other writing but I would need magnification to read it. I know the $125 price is high but it seems pawn shops price things way up there to see if you will bite or dicker over the price.

I think you need to remember that the pawn shop guys make mistakes, too. OTOH, he may be fishing to see if he can reel someone in on that knife. And still, it may just be a mistake.

There isn't anything I could see that would justify that kind of price on that knife.

I got a JYD for $25... I couldn't care less if it were from the first production.

First Production adds absolutely zero value to the knife unless you find a collector who collects first production runs. That collector may pay an extra $5 for the 1st prod run.

I don't think the pawn shop guy realizes that there's 500 knives that say "1 of 500".

Thanks for the responses. I am just not familiar with the so-called "first production" stuff. I will stick with the standard model.
