Here's my unboxing/review of my new JYD from RamZar.

Here it is on my kitchen table in 2 days flat. Nice!

Here I am opening it:

It's a biggun!

It's bigger than my Blur, which was my largest folder to date:

It's a handful, but pretty comfy. The G10 is nicely textured, but not too rough. The flipper works well with a little bit of a wrist flick (it's a lotta blade to get moving :) ). The flipper has some nice jimping that gives good grip for opening, but it's not to rough on the finger.

It opens with a nice solid thwack and locks up nice and solid. Interestingly enough, the liner lock is also the blade stop. Actually, the liner is so thick it's more like a frame lock with a scale. They even had to do a cutout on the liner like a frame lock to make it work.

The blade is the weld pattern I prefer, which is pretty cool. The top half is pretty similar to the Blur, but the bottom is a drop point style instead, which should be easier to sharpen (I'm not that great at sharpening yet).

Presumably it's used, but I couldn't tell. RamZar, did you use this thing at all? Also, it's supposed to be a Blem, but the only things I could find wrong were the weld was slightly uneven and the grind was slightly wavy on one side. Not complaining, just an observation.

All in all, pretty cool giveaway that I'm really excited to have won.

Congrats again. Nothing like waiting for a prize and that's why I sprung for Priority Mail!

This was a brand new blem that I never used and had for only a few days. I couldn't find why it was a blem but didn't scrutinize it in detail.

Congratulations on the win, Thanks to RamZar for the giveaway, and thanks for the pictures!!

Your thread is full of wiin!

That should look interesting. My Hinderer Extreme Duty solid copper pen will do the same one day.

Hmm, copper, that makes me think of this :) I have a rotating fascination with knives, guns and flashlights. It's interesting to find how often they intersect for others, too.

Nice. That'll go well with my solid copper pen. To that list of fascinations for me you have to add pens as well.

Wait... whut?!

I don't have a great photo of it, but in this picture you can see that there is a right angle at the bottom of the lock face of the blade. It engages with the bottom of the lockbar to stop the rotation of the blade. Clear as mud? I'll try to get a better photo tonight if necessary.

And there is no vertical play in the blade? I'd think the blade would move vertically. The 301 uses the blade stops against the titanium lock bar as the closed blade stop. You can move the entire titanium lock bar vertically by pressing on the blade when it is closed. Similar with the 350. I would have thought the JYD would exhibit the same problem.

Nope, nice and solid.

One thing, if it's anything like the the Lahar (Galyean designer) it uses a hidden stop pin. Try taking out the pivot completely and removing the blade, I'll bet you can't get the blade out. Definitely hidden pin, google search "kershaw junkyard dog disassembled"

Yep, I was just coming back to report that after looking closer I can see that there is a hidden stop pin. Oops, my bad. Still locks up good, though :)
