First off, thanks to everyone for their recommendations on a previous post I had made asking for idea's on a large "beefy" folder in the $40-$60 range. I have sort of narrowed it down to deciding between a Kershaw JYDII and a Boker Mini Resurrection. Does anyone have any experience comparing the 2? Both have the same blade length, seem to be about the same size, etc. I also saw a Boker review that compared it to the Kershaw ZT series as far as feel goes. Any truth to that? Finally, anyone have any other recommendations to a knife in the same size, price range, feel as the JYD & Boker? Thanks!

I'd Go Kershaw JYDII - I just get more of a "quality" feel from Kershaws than Boker plus knives

i have one of the boker resurrections, and it's a good knife. but a heavy knife. if you like big handled knives. the one thing i liked about the mini res. is that you can carry it tip-up or down. it's more comparable to the zt 350 on steroids. the only jyd i have is the little model. no comparison there. :D

I love the JYD2 design, I own 2 in titanium and the design is very comfortable in the hand and the composite blade version is available in the exchange as a blem in your price range. I think it's about $45 or so over there for the blem.
The only caveat to the JYD2 is the right hand tip down only carry.
The stock clip carries pretty well but if you can get a low ride clip for it from STR you won't notice it in your pocket.
I own about 10 knives and it's been my EDC for the past year straight.

The JYDII is quite nice. But I prefer the CS Recon 1. It has similar ergonomics, but is larger and most definitely stronger. I also like the blade shapes they offer. The JYDII is not pointy enough for my taste.

If you don't like the Recon, then there is always the AK-47 or the American Lawman as well. They are both very strong beefy folders.
Next year (hopefully) Cold Steel will offer the Voyager line of knives with the same lock and they will be awesome!

Used to own them both, traded the Kershaw (Composite). The D2 edge is the better steel but in every other way that matters to me, the Boker is the better knife. It certainly is stronger. And yes, it compares well to the ZT 0300, which I also own. Not that I'd call it better than the ZT, but just consider the price points...

The JYD II is a beast of a knife. It's comfortable in the hand, carries well for its size, and it's a great cutter.

I have the JYD II ti. It weighs 5.5 ozs or so. The Boker is a Much more heavy

duty knife all around and weighs 7.9 ozs.

The JYD II should handle most cutting jobs easily. If you need a knife that

can handle anything... almost.... get the Boker.

I'd probably go with the JYDII out of the two. I hate to say it, but if you want a really heavy duty knife for fairly cheap, maybe go the Cold Steel route. now in my mind, Spyderco, Benchmade, Kershaw, Buck >>>> Cold Steel, but for large beefy folder in that price range, I can't help but think of CS.

No need to hate saying that. I'm a Cold Steel fan, but the Boker is as tough as any of them, maybe the Tri-Ad lock would win out in the end, but the blade and pivot of the Boker are immensely strong, and the liner is plenty tough too.

I'd throw the Kershaw Lahar in the mix if you haven't considered it. It's a solid, beefy folder, with VG10 blade.
I have both the standard JYDII and the Lahar, and prefer the Lahar.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I went ahead and ordered the Boker for $55 plus shipping. I ended up wanting to try something substantially bigger than what I EDC now.
