Blurs are great. I have 5 or 6.

The black coating is Tungsten DLC (diamond like coating). It is REALLY tough. Generally, when you think you have scratched it, it is actually whatever you were cutting just stuck onto it. Comes off with a little windex.

The Sandvik steel is pretty impressive for the money too.

There are a lot of great deals out there for Blurs if you look around. My black Blur cost me like $22.

yeah I open beer with the spline of my tanto blur and no scratches! ever.

I've since sold my PE, I only have my Tanto CE now, with a red handle...

Thumb studs on both sides so I can open with both hands, and opens and closes with the right spring action, it's one of the easier assisted knives to close.

You'd be happy with it, It's one of my favorite knives

Welcome to bladeforums!

I have two blurs. All of my buddies have blurs. We all love our blurs.

Very fast opening, good steel in the knife, useful and practical blade shape for cutting--if it needs resharpening, and you don't have the sharpmaker, just send it into the factory for free sharpening. The blur is unique in the thumbstud--it's stair-stepped with traction for your thumb and opens perfectly every time.

The traction inserts are grippy without ripping your pocket, it's tip up or down carry.

On top of all of that, it is backed by one of the best warranties in the business, and Kershaw's unbeatable customer service.

You'll love it. It is a classic, IMO.

Blur is a great knife! Check out the S30V stone washed version at knifeworks.com. It's killer.

Blurs are the main reason why I started collecting (and using :D) Kershaw knives. Get it, and you'll be satisfied!

S30V Blur is my all-time favourite - from the five Blurs, what I got so far. (But I need more... ;))

you will not be dissapointed with a blur. I have the s30v one, and am in the process of gettign some $$ for a trade involving an s60v one as well.

they open lightning fast, and are a perfect size for edc.

Gents : Thank you all so much for the info. I just purchased one from Amazon.

I am an older fellow age 66 next month and and have a collection of slip joints.

I wanted this knife for EDC.

Good score! You'll love the knife.

I have yet to meet a knife user that dislikes the Blurs.

I have a friend about your age. Once he saw my Blur he went out picked one up for himself. He really likes it. I think you will too. ;)

Slip Joints are to me very traditional and I have a few. You have made a good choise with Kershaw and will enjoy the newer tecnology in knives today. I think you will have trouble with owning just one. I'm almost 63 and have about 6 Kershaws. I always look forward to their next design. Best of luck with your purchase.

I think you'll enjoy it. I don't particularly like AO knives, but a friend used to EDC a Blur and I really liked it. It's enough knife to get just about any job done, but it carries like a small knife and has a nice classy look.

My biggest complaint with AOs is that some of them are extremely hard to close one handed. It seems kinda useless to be able to open the knife so quickly if closing it is a chore. I briefly EDC'd a Camillus Heat until it nicked me pretty good when I tried to close it with wet hands and it snapped back open.

Enjoy the new knife!

I own multiple Blur models and duplicates of most. I think Blurs are modern classics. I dont recall meeting anyone with a complaint other than the small recurve in the blade. Doesnt bother me one bit.

Get a S60V Blem from kershawguy while they are still available. Best $65 you can spend on a Blur, past or present.
