Which in your collected opinions is the better composite knife for the price

I know the story about them it's just a money thing

Kershaw rake or jyd2

i dont have the rake, but i do have a JYD composite. its a great knife and one of my favorite kershaws

I like em both. If you like the assit opening then the rake is the way to go or a slightly smaller knife the rake fits the bill for that too. I think they both fit well in the hand and just have a great feel to them I have the jyd composite, rake and zt0350cb, I carry them all. The speed assit on the rake and 0350 is a sweet feature but I still like the jyd composite just as much. The rake I recently bought as a blem model to save a few buck and justify it. Kershaw must have some great qt because I don't think the average person would have caught the belms on mine. If money is an issue you might want to consider a blem. I think you have to look at the a size difference and then weather you want the assist or not. Let those be your deciding factors but either way it will be hard not be happy with either one.

I don't have any experience with the Rake, but it would have to be one heck of a knife to out do the JYD.

I bought a JYD2C for sheer coolness. It's really too big for edc and the santoku style drop point is not very useful.

The Rake's size is more pocket-friendly. It has a point for piercing/digging, and it has more belly.

You'll get more use out of the Rake.

I've found the Santoku blade shape one of the most useful out of my EDC collection...

OP go with whatever blade shape you like and if you like assisted or smooth manual flipper opening.

both will be fun. the manual is smooth as butter on the JYD, after a little tuning. i have never held a rake, but i can only imagine how much fun that would be. in true BF style, get both blemished. then it is just slightly more than getting one new.

I forgot you have some clip carry options on the rake. The jyd doesn't. Look at the jyd clip too. Some people hate the big size and shape of the clip. I really like it
I wouldn't mind having it on my other knives. Just my likes and opinions we all know what opinions are worth.

I don't have a JYD, so can't comment on it. I just got the Rake a few weeks ago, and now it's a favorite. I love the belly on the blade, great leverage for cutting. The handle fits well into my hand, and the knife has great balance. I bought it as a blem from Kershawguy, and have yet to find any blems....So my recommendation would be the Rake :D

Yeah I'm thinking the rake because I will carry it in my pocket and it looks real cool

But I do admire the JYD's blade shape and design and manual opening

I like the Rake, but couldn't find one...

JYD is ok but I'm not a big fan of the blade shape.

The only composite blade Kershaw I have is a Leek, it's pretty nice.

If you can find one... the shallot composite is amazing! zdp189 thats all i need to say

I use my JYD comp all the time for my construction job. It opens kitchen cabinet packing boxes, trims wood, cuts fiberglass binding strips, breaks down heavy cardboard boxes, sharpens large carpentry pencils, trims sheetrock, opens caulk tubes, and even cuts my lunchtime burgers in half.

That was yesterday.... seriously!

Comparing the two, I like less point in my work knives so the JYD scores there. Also, for cutting I like less belly and longer, straighter edges, so the JYD wins there as well.

I find the blade design of the JYD to be one of the most efficient slicers I have ever owned. Certainly by far the most efficient slicer of the larger knives I own.

its a tough choice because there both really nice

size wise there close when there closed which is what i am going by

so it essentially breaks down to do i want assisted or manual and preference in blade shape

Go with the Rake, you won't regret it :D

Yeah I am a little worried about tip strength

But what does the blemish exactly mean
