I love the Kershaw Knockout design, especially the blade profile. The only thing holding me back is I'm not too hot on the steel they use. Yesterday I came to work, and in the back I spot a bronze Knockout. Of course this catches my eye, so I flip it over and find it stamped with "Elmax". Awesome! So figure I'd let everyone else know about it. I dont know how limited it is, but I do know your local knife shop can order them through Moteng (from my understanding its a dealer exclusive via them). It is an awesome dark bronze color, but the lock is still black, with Elmax steel for the blade. Elmax is perfect for that wonderfully thin slicing blade. I'd post some pics, but my buddy came in and swooped it up before it was even on display lol. He's a gold member here, so I'll ask him to post some images :)

I'm not trying to argue, or insult your opinion, but why don't you like Sandvik steel? I love what Kershaw does with it, especially on the Knockout.
Keeping on topic, The special edition does sound pretty cool. I'll have to look into it.

There on the bay but cost double or more than than the regular knockout. I've got the regular knockout, like it very much even with the sandvik. Not sure elmax is worth double the price to me.

It should cost about $140-150. I'm just not a big fan of the sandvik steel. The added nitrogen softens it up without adding much to the stainless properties - and it doesn't really need to be ultra stainless anyways. I've never found it to cut better than higher carbide steels, and the softness causes the edge to turn and roll much easier than other steels. I would say its certainly better and preferable to older steels such as 440 and foreign steels like 8cr13mov, but isn't better than your standard steels used in modern knives today.

Lol wow just looked on eBay out of curiosity, and damn they are selling all those Kershaws for literally a few dollars over wholesale. Idk that almost makes me worried that some are fakes...

I just got the Kershaw Knockout in Elmax and blackwash. I like this knife a lot. The aluminum handles are shaped perfect to fit my hand. Its knocked other knives out of my pocket recently. Well lets see how it holds up when my ZT 0452 gets here tomorrow or Friday!!

Nice. Yeah I'd definitely say that the Knockout is a hidden gem. Its crazy that we dont sell more of them. Then again it takes someone who really knows and loves knives to appreciate the overall feel and design. I find most customers just can't see what makes it so nice and move on to something more traditional instead.

The knockouts are awesome and the limited edition with elmax has been a very hot seller for us. I have been amazed how few people know that they are out there. We have a lot of very knowledgeable knife people come in our shop and are shocked when they discover the Elmax knockout. Most say they have never heard of it.

Managed to get one of the elmax models with the brown aluminum scales. All I can say is "wow". I'm generally a fan of Sandvik 14v28n but the elmax is another beast entirely!

I really want to strip the aluminum and re-anodize it and dye it a dark high polish blue. That would look awesome. My buddy was telling me that the elmax is awesome on that knife. Normally u always see elmax on big thick blades. Its nice to see it on a thin slicer. In fact I'd say the thin slicer perfectly compliments Elmax's properties. Damn just what I needed, another knife to buy lol

I ordered one from Whitty a couple months ago.
I like the Elmax a lot because it sharpens up easier than most super steels in my experience.
I love the overall look of the knife and the Speedsafe action is smooth, solid, and fast.

Two things I don't care for though.. it has thumbstuds, which I feel aren't needed on a flipper.
also, the handle is smooth and lacks real gripability. I've dropped it twice while using it with gloved hands.
For the price it's a great knife. I carry it often.
