First off i really like this knife, its one of my favorites. My question, Is it possible to remove the thumbstud? I only use the flipper, and have no need for the thumbstud.
Thank you for your time

If you don't use it, then why not leave it alone? Is it really such a bother?

If you wanted, you could punch it out, as it's press fit in. In that case, you'll be voiding your warranty I believe.

A few days after I got mine I noticed the thumb stud stuck out on one side more than the other. I tried to push it back to center, and it popped out. Left it out ever since.

Just got mine, havent sharpened it yet on my EP. Will it be easier to sharpen if I take the studs out? Anyone take the KO to their EP yet?

I don't think the thumb studs would make any difference while you're sharpening.

EDIT: Wasn't thinking and only thought the thumb stud was on one side.

Thanks for the help and Especially Sithus for the pictures, looks sharp without it.
FMC if you are using a cutout profile knife block or jig, then i would think it would sit more securely on the Ep table without the thumb stud. After i remove the thumbstud i may made one for my EP. Smart gentleman over at spyderco forum, jackknifeh has a very detailed information on making the blocks if you are interested.

Yes, I reprofiled mine on the Edge Pro down to 15 degree per side, laying the flat of the grind on the blade table. I didn't use the flat area, since it's not large enough to have it lay stable. I Just used an angle measure cube to get the 0 position from the blade handle, and then measured the angle of the stone from there. Angle checks out just fine.

To deal with the blade shape, I actually moved the blade along the table, and ended up with three main positions to sharpen it along the whole length without odd interaction angles. Again, keeping the flat of the grind against the table the whole time. Here are my reference pictures:

Will do, thanks for the tips and pics guys. I'll see how it goes, I could do without the stud anyway but I'll keep it if I get good results like sticktodrum.

Lovin my KO, lookin forward to get it to laser beam mode hehe.
