Kershaw Knockout?

I don't think so.

If you looked at it and it seemed like it wouldn't come out, it probably won't.

You could take a file to it, but be careful to only get the thumb stud.

That's what I thought that it is permanently there. I never understood why Kershaw doesn't eliminate the thumb stud. It'll make it way more clean looking with just the flipper.

Well it's one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't situations. I think it looks cleaner, but folks like options.

I agree. I saw a prototype of the Piston without the thumb stud and it looked way cleaner. Even though the Piston thumb stud is way better in design than the knockout, it still looks odd to even have it. I like how the Blur feels with the exact thumb stud as the Piston, but the Blur doesn't have a flipper. Honestly if the Piston comes out in a limited edition in s30v without the thumb stud, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Understand that I haven't looked at the Knockout, so I may be completely off base. BUT... you might be able to do like I did with my 0200 and 0700: lay the blade over a socket, with the thumb-stud inside the socket, the socket supporting the side of the blade. Tap the thumb stud a few times with a hammer (preferably a brass hammer so if you make a mis-lick, you won't gouge the blade). On my 0200, a couple of fairly authoritative taps, and the thumb stud was out. Then it looks like it has a Spyderco hole in it, albeit too small to be useful. With my 0700, it took some serious whacks with the hammer to get the thumb-stud out.

Some people just prefer thumbstuds over flippers. On my DLC JYD, I like the clean look of the blade. On the Blur, I love the thumbstuds.
