Well I got a few knives for Christmas and my birthday. For Christmas I got the Lahar. My jaw almost dropped when I first opened it! I didn't expect it to be nearly as large. I saw a review before that had it with a leek and a spec bump, but I have neither so it didn't do me much good. The blade is very sharp out of the box, but it hasn't bite me yet. I can usually flip it open with little if any hand movement. The G10 is grippy. Fit and Finish is awesome. The best part is the handle. I find it very ergonomic and I like it very much! I would recommend it to others because of its value!

Today I got a Boker Trance for my birthday. I opened it up and said "This will be great pocket knife for work." then my step mom said "It is a little big for a pocket knife." She hasn't seen the Lahar yet.:D The knife ergonomics is great! The blade also came pretty sharp. It is also very slim. Textured FRN is OK, but I might switch it out for G10 or something later. This will be a great EDC! Hopefully it will break in nicely so I can flip it open. I would also recommend this because of it's ergonomics. Two great knives!

Sorry for the bad scans. I need to reinstall the software for my scanner. Check the other reviews for good pictures. These are more for scale. Left to Right: Kabar Thorn, Boker Trance, Kershaw Lahar, Schrade Old Timer.

What do you think of the Thorn? I have the aluminum Dozier folding hunter by KaBar, excellent knife , but seems a little delicate.

Happy Birthday & enjoy the knives

It is (obviously)a very different animal compared to the Lahar, which is about the same price. It is thin, small, and light. The liner is a tiny bit thicker than a credit card, but it hasn't failed. The finish is very good and the D2 steel is great. The clip isn't as tight as it should be, in my opinion. Also the clip is just below the pivot screw so it sticks out of the pocket a bit. I'll have to get a new clip for it later.
