Kershaw Lahar blade play

Hi all!

I just noticed that my Kershaw Lahar has blade play. Its 0,5 - 1mm in side way. My favourite knife and best quality folder. It has torx pivot screw. But what is size of that torx? I think I can fix the blade play with adjusting its torx but I need to know what sized torx I need. ( I have to buy a torx set )
 
Take it to a hardware store and get one that fits, I've done exactly that before. They will be glad to let you match it up and sell you one.
 
I've already packed the Kershaw in the box it came. I just love my Lahar. Extremely smooth flipper. Perhaps bit too smooth. I really suspect the pivot is slightly loose. It seems similar sized torx that my Zing has for Pivot.
 
Well sure it's a tad loose, no big deal. I've tightened dozens of knives and it's very simple. Just go get a torx that fits from the hardware store. I don't have a Lahar now, or I'd tell you what size. No need to send it back to Kershaw.
 
I kinda hoped that. Sending Lahar to fix cross the pond due minor blade play is bit... ridicioules. I do hope I find suitable torx separately so I don't have to buy entire set just for that.

But I love my lahar. Its so far my biggest folder and only knife so far that uses more "premium" steel. So far Lahar's only negative issues are lack of lanyard hole and left hand carry option for pocket clip.
 
T-10, T-8, and T-6 are usually the most common with knives. The pivot is probably a 10 like Jill said

Close the knife before tightening the pivot it you want the best liner lock results :)
 
A good set of T6, T8, and T10 will go a long ways. It's never a bad idea to invest in some Wihas since they're generally regarded as the best around here.
 
Alright this crappy town I had to go thru 3 hardware and electricware stores before I found a Torx set. I bought 9 piece torx set that has T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, T9, T10, T15 and T20 torxes. Lahar's pivot took T8. It was almost fully tight but I loosen pivot first and then tightened it all the way. Blade play is gone or its so small I cannot detect!

Finally my lovely Lahar is back the shape it should be ^^

No Wihas available here. These are branded IKH. Edit: I should look some Wiha's Torx set just in case from eBay. It sucks that almost all quality knives and knife accessories I have to buy over seas and it takes 14 days to get them. Well, its good way to practise a patience.
 
I love my Lahar. It is a great hard use folder! :thumbup:

Try putting a drop of LocTite or PermaTex blue (medium strength) on the screw so it won't loosen during normal use. You can still unscrew it for maintenance. Don't get red.
 
My Junkyard Dog 2 composite is on mail. I will go out when i get it and use Lahar and Composite Dog. Expect some woods picture with composite dog and lahar running wild ^^
