the very end of the kershaw lahar handle just caught my attention. it seems specifically designed to hit with. is this so?? or have been watching too many martial arts video clips on youtube?

well, any knife handle (or any hard object for that matter) can be used as an effective impact weapon. The thought that the lahar's handle would be designed that way is a bit far-fetched, but the thought that it would be effective is entirely accurate. A knife is an effective tool in hand-to-hand even if you don't want to risk AWD. hold it closed in your hand, you can hit them directly with the handle, and the hard object in your hand will make your punches hit a lot harder.

3mptin3ss:

I think it's pretty much accepted practice that the butt of any folder with aspirations to the term tactical folder is designed with the aim that the user might need to strike with the butt of the knife handle.

The Lahar usually crops up in discussions of tactical folders...

Edit: the above sounds awfully clinical and lifeless, doesn't it...the bottom line as pointed out by others is that you can hit someone with just about anything...the blunt end of a knife by its very nature (probably not by design afterall) can be used that way as can anything similar. :)

The other end's the more interesting one...:D

You whack someone with the blunt end of a knife (key word being knife) in the meaning of this discussion, and don't expect to be charged with ADW? Come on now, bw...you're smarter than that.

you could say it was a rock and that the impact caused them to hallucinate......

At this rate, this thread'll end up in Practical Tactical or Knife Law.

Unless maybe, there's an Impractical Tactical Knife Law forum

Pfft, everyone knows all tactical knives are practical. I mean, just look at Cold Steel or Dark Ops.

Let's keep on topic of the OP's question.

Yes, you've been watching too many ninja movies. Any knife
can be used to hit something, opened or closed. ;)

We don't bash other brands in this forum. At least I hope we don't.....
I stay away from PracTac for a reason.
