Seems to be a well built folder for the money. Not sure about the blade steel(VG10). User opinions?
-thanks

Im not a steel expert or anything but VG10 is a very good steel IMO. Id say its a step above the Sandvik 14c28 that Kershaw uses in most of its knives and pretty close to 154cm in quality.

It's a heck of a knife for the price--I'm surprised not too many people know about it. Go get it!

VG10 is excellent blade steel.

Kershaw is an excellent knife company.

The Lahar is an excellent knife.

Buy one and feel the excellence. :D

Yep totally excellent knife. Cuts way bigger than it is and fits my hand pretty darn good. If the handle was .25" longer it would be perfect me thinks. keepem sharp

I love my Lahar, my first Kerhsaw Flipper. One really smooth knife. Bit too big for EDC in urban but good knife working, forrest, cabin and such.

I agree the Lahar is one heck of a sleeper knife that is not super popular but is one heck of a value. VG-10 is an excellent blade steel that can take a very nice acute angle and hold it for quite a long time. It's pretty close to 154cm if not a little better IMO.

Had one, great knife, handle was a bit pinched for my big bear paws so I traded it, I really like the knife tho'

In my experience VG10's edge retention is somewhere between 154CM and S30V and with the molybdenum content it takes a very fine edge. It's like an AUS 8 on steroids.

The FF on the lahar is better than many of the US models..
And the VG- was just fine...

I had a Lahar & other than being bigger than I like, it was an excellent knife. F&F, as has been said, is excellent. VG-10 is very good steel & about on par, IMHO, to 154CM.

It is surprising that it's not more popular than it is, given that it's well built, a manual flipper, excellent blade steel, & tip down or up carry. Plus, they're priced so well for what you get. If one wants a large flipper that has excellent material at a bargain price (Around $50), it's a great choice.
