Kershaw Leek AO problems

First off ... I love this knife. The Leek is my
favorite 3" bladed EDC that I own.
Which makes me sad because it looks like the
AO just stopped working.
I've opened it and closed it a few hundred times
just playing with it. It's addicting and fun! :)
So, I am going to send it back to Kershaw
and have it fixed since I've only had it about a week.

At first I thought it was just gunk or dust slowing it down
but after about 20 more openings it has now stopped.
It still works but unassisted and there's not much
tension from keeping it from opening by itself.

I'm not one of those people that just write off a company
because of one issue. I've had issues from about 50% of
the brands I buy from (yes, including benchmade).
The overall F&F of the knife is first rate.

In that line I'm thinking of getting the S30V G-10 Leek. :)

Anyone else have this problem before?

The tension bar is broken (or bent to crap?), that happens... just like eventually you have to replace tires on a car.

I've had to replace the spring on my Leek 1660, just send them an e-mail or call them and they will send you a spring and an instruction sheet for switching it out. Can't beat their customer care.

ahhh. ok... I was thinking that the tension bar could wear out.
interesting. awesome... I'll drop them a line.
I guess I need to lay off the flipping... but soooo much fun!

If you open it with centrifugal force (flip of the wrist, new york drop) then you will damage the torsion bar. open it with the thumbstuds or the flipper only. Oh and if you have the torx screwdrivers you can replace the bar yourself, without them you'll have to send it in.
