Kershaw Leek Assembly Tip

I took my couple year old Leek apart awhile ago and when it came apart I wasn't able to see how the plate and torsion bar were assembled.

It's all cleaned up from over a year of heavy use and I am at a standstill at this place.

I searched and found an excellent pictorial step by step of the process - too bad the pictures had been removed!

I would appreciate if someone could describe where "exactly" I go from here to finish assembly of the torsion bar, to the blade and the inside plate. :o

Here I am in assembly:

You need to rotate the torsion bar 180 degrees from how you have it sitting in the picture, just how it is with the "prongs" up like that, and put it under the plate, line up the slot on the backspacer with the slot in the plate and you should be good to go back together.

Hey thanks for posting GarrettWeidman. I was just coming to post that I'd figured it out. I had to look at it longer I suppose and it suddenly all made sense. She's buttoned up and fast as h*ll again.

It was cruddy. Polished everything, cleaned out that white lithium grease I put in, with a heavy oil instead. Assembled & tweaked handle screw torx and pivot torx for optimal performance.

BTW, your advice was correct - tricky little bugger for a fat fingered guy like me to get everything lined up. Should be good to go for another year or two. :D

Cool picture Chuck. I always wondered what was inside the leek that made it flick so quick. Fun knife but I don't carry mine much anymore.

they got me batty till i figured that out. the easiest way i remember after going nuts for a hour was spring last. its crasy at first. assemble the bottom scale first with the liner.and spacer. then the blade open. insert it. over pivot. dont forget the washers ,, i did that too. install the top liner . . no screws yet. put in spring.it just sits there. little hole in blade. and into slot. dab a little vaseline on spring. install top scale . line up holes and you are good to go. i also realised do not tighten anything till the last screw goes in. i leave them all loose until tightening time.obviously i messed up and did not see you got it:thumbup: but i dont know how to delete this:eek:

hope this helps. joey

Mine is Random Leek, a sweet little SS framelock with an S30V blade that I got from Kershawguy. It's flipper deploys it faster than any switchblade.

I keep it on my desk for opening mail and boxes of stuff. Just a few strokes on the DMT x-fine & xx-fine and then several passes on my strops keeps it razor sharp. I love it and use it every day. :)

Hi cziv -

Thanks for the picture - I have never had a leek long enough to take it apart - I always wind up giving Leeks away to interested friends who had not yet discovered that they were knife addicts... :D

best regards -

Hi joey -

No need to get your panties in a wad, your advice was good and helpful.

If I had a dime for every post I ever made that was never replied to, I would have a nice new Sebenza sitting next to me.

Relax and have a good time here, and thanks for your information.

best regards -
