The blade steel for this Leek is Sandvik 7C27MO2

Sandvik 7C27Mo2 is a martensitic stainless chromium steel alloyed with molybdenum that is characterized by good formability.

Sandvik 7C27Mo2 is Sandvik's most corrosion-resistant knife steel. It combines exceptional corrosion resistance with decent edge properties.

The main reason for choosing this grade over other Sandvik knife steels is the benefits of high corrosion resistance, toughness and ease of re-sharpening. The added corrosion resistance is beneficial, especially when pitting corrosion is the main reason for the deterioration of the knife edge.

With a hardness range of 53-57 HRC Sandvik 7C27Mo2 is recommended for fishing knives and outdoor knives used in marine environments.

This is the first time Ive seen this model leek, looks like an amazon exclusive? They have an Olive one too.

Prices are comparable to the other leeks, and I found it on other sites besides Amazon. A new regular item?

Yes, bought it off Amazon, did not expect this particular steel
Very sharp
Have not had to touch the blade yet

Yep, exclusive to Amazon, with aluminum handles (black or olive, as someone mentioned). Liner locks. They should be around for a while if they continue to sell well. I don't know the exact date of manufacture for you, since we don't date stamp anymore. But it was within the last year.

Thanks for the input Lynda, always appreciated.

Sometimes you don't realize the good that you are doing when
all it seems is that you are wading in an endless pool of excrement.

Yep,

The steel is new to me. It seems that this 7C27mo2 would make an excellent poor mans H1. I'm sure it offers serviceable performance as far as edge retention goes, but that's not really what its about with this steel. All in all it fills a certain niche.
