I was looking into getting a Leek in S30V. I have never owned a Kershaw and really have never seen one in person. How fast is the speed safe assist?
What other knives are comparable in price and build? Thanks

Very fast, very smooth, the Leek is a really great EDC...I couldn't find any significant difference in the speed of it even when compared to an automatic. The Camillus Heat is fast as well...but they are getting harder to find these days.

I have a Scallion, Leek, and Speed Bump; and the Leek is noticeably faster than the others. All are great knives though IMO

SOG makes some assisted openers in the price range of a standard Leek.
I think there are a couple of CRKT assisted openers in that same range also.

But I think only Kershaw makes an assisted opener in S30V at that price point. It's somewhat more expensive (~$30 more) than the others.

BM makes the Apparition assisted opener in S30V, but they are higher priced.

The Kershaw Blur is more hand-filling, but doesn't have a lock. I like it better. I probably carry my Scallion most often - Blur next - Leek least. The Blur is available in S30V - in a 'stone-wash' type - neat looking. Sadly, I recently discovered the Spydie 204 Sharpmaker, so my 'old' Kershaws are once again sharp, halting S30V bladed variant purchases. The best bargain in S30V is as near as your nearby Wally World - the $40 Spyderco Native in S30V, but you have to like thumb-hole opening lockbacks. Great bargain - gets EDC honors with the Scallion.
